  2. Dry and sunny but chilly then some showers arrived mid afternoon with hail before a dry and sunny end to the day,max 11 deg,min 2 deg

BlueSkies_do_I_see In March 1965 25 degrees was recorded on the 29th March,this i believe is the outright March maximum recorded at Whitby which was amazingly the hottest day in Whitby for the whole year.Just as amazing is that on the 3rd day of that month Corwen in Wales recorded -21.7 deg,the coldest day of the year for the whole country,anamazingly cold temperature for March,only 2 winters have recorded lower in almost 30 years!

  7. 2009 was a rather decent summer for some maybe but unfortunately if you were a farmer trying to make hay it was a bit difficult when it rained every day.I can picture the weatherman showing the same weather chart with Atlantic lows one after another week in week out.it was rather pleasant with lots of sunshine around but then cloud built and it rained,an hour later back to sunshine.We had to wait for mid August for any settled spells to arrive.

  10. Yes a poor summer,as a farmer trying to make hay it was garbage for July and the first half of August,yet another year when we had to cut grass 5 weeks later than we should have.
  11. LetItSnow! I dont remember 1971 but 1974,1982,1992,1999 and 2004 were all decent summers despite their rainfall,certainly for me as a farmer trying to get the hay made.

  17. Summer8906 Yes 2018 was the best August here.
  18. 2018 was very decent,all the others were rubbish or poor including the cloudy 2013.

  22. For me the standout was 1989,having endured 4 and a half years of wet weather and poor summers and still bogged down trying to work in the fields with the tractors that April the switch around to hot and dry was truely remarkable.
