  1. Thing is, they did grit but the snow that came down melted a bit during the day yesterday and with it took a fair bit of the salt away with it, the problem is that the gritters didn't go out all day yesterday like they should have, they did it once and thought it would be enough, in reality to make things easier they should have been out all day up and down motorways and main roads. There is some answering to be done by councils here as to why they weren't out on continuous loops
  2. Great pic, love the intensity of the snow falling and the little drift too, good work my son
  3. 365 people reading this forum, that's a lot, and a lot of them don't even post, they just laugh at our wit and jokes and are amazed by the way so many people can be excited by a few cms of snow. This is England '13
  4. Well if you count the two feet you've got at the end of your legs yes
  5. Drunk , in pj's, 15cm...........sounds like a chapter from 50 shades
  6. So much for south east and met office saying 10cm max then! That's two places already past that mark........hope your not fibbing!?
  7. Is that true? If that is right and you're not talking kentimetres then I am struggling for work tomorrow as I work up at the top of wrotham hill near London golf club, and I've got a merc
  8. Folkestone is the place to be it seems, that'll get 10cm plus I think, I'm thinking ill wake up to 3 or4cm max.............of snow ...........before you all start with the jokes. Thing is, under all the snow now is a sheet of ice which is going to catch many out tomorrow when walking and driving. Be careful peeps
  9. Back of the net eh froze! I read your posts in an Alan partridge voice in my mind, makes it funnier! Don't think AP would be saying "it's hotter than the sun" if he were out tonight that is for sure!
  10. People abandoning cars all over the place, it's only a cm or two still but it's really coming down and people panicking at rush hour to get home, the snow earlier has melted and frozen over so a layer of ice under fresh snow now in many places, hills and even small inclines are a major problem to the already slow and barely moving traffic, the gritting that should have been done has mostly washed away and no fresh grit seems to have gone down, clever!
  11. Funny, sounds like you've raided a crack den and looking for "the good stuff" lol
  12. Now it's getting interesting, looks like its set in now for a while, this is the edge of the low frontal coming now, very small flakes but billions of them, road white, everywhere white, accumulating starts!
  13. Halling, an Oregon LW301 i am slightly higher up than you to be fair but yes may need to check the accuracy of my kit soon i agree
  14. this is all very dissapointing so far, started off looking promising this morning and then since about 9am its gone very quiet and the sun almost came out! hoping for something a bit better later that is for sure, what did fall and initially settle seems to have melted somehow, even though the temp is -0.3oc , not sure how that happens?
  15. Heavy burst for 10 mins of 8/10 Murr scale, loved it but don't you just hate it when someone decides to drive over the newly covered white road , kind of ruins it for me, I love untouched white crisp snow on the roads, that's a rarity though. Stopped for now but won't be long until the next snow train stops at Snodland station!
  16. Snowing lightly but heavily (if that makes sense!?) 5p flakes but lots of them up here in TN15 at the top of Wrotham hill (at work!) settling nicely, nearly got a covering in places, 0 degrees so should stick nicely up here. Been snowing for 15 mins only so far.
  17. zero snow shown over any of the south east as of latest bbc weather map on TV - this is conflicted with the bbc online weather hour-by-hour forecast which has in total 19 hours of light snow over my postcode in the next 3 days....... who is right? why can't they get something slightly firmer agreed amongst themselves!? who knows........i guess a chance of snow is better than none at all , 2-4cm by Saturday evening could be nice, won't last too long but lets face it, theres no real obvious frontal snow in the offing in the next 5-7 days by the looks of it so we'll take what we can. i fancy a Medway streamer this time, could deliver 5+ cm!? i'll go back to dreaming
  18. snowing here quite a lot , only small 5p size flakes but a lot of them, i'm in TN15 at the top of Wrotham hill at work, looking good, temp 0.8c currently, most snow still here from overnight, trees dropping but mainly because of the weight of the snow on the branches, much more than i and my work were expecting, nice surprise actually
  19. a few measly cm's on car this morning in Snodland ME6 but i work up at the top of Wrotham hill and low and behold, near Brands Hatch there is a good 10cm already and still falling, so i get my snow fix afterall plus i get the adrenaline rush of already having got stuck in the snow in my ridiculously bad in the snow rear wheel drive car on an unploughed bit near work. Lets hope this isn't the last day of cold and snow we see this winter. Happy Monday everyone!
  20. yesterday evening between about 4pm and 6pm was awesome, got right in the thick of it with that heavier band of ppn, topped us up here very nicely, it added 4cm in 2 hours and we topped out with 12.5cm in snowy snodland. about 4 or 5 cm more than i was expecting and very happy i am today with it, get to stay home and read netweather forum all day instead of working lol!!
  21. Pelting it down now here in snodland, well holborough lakes actually, heaviest its been all day, just measured 8.5cm on top of car roof, getting interesting now in terms of depth and ppn level, good day all round, now just need to decide if I should venture to work tomorrow up at the top of wrotham hill!? Have a good and cosy evening all you fellow snow lovers
  22. would anyone care to assess Medways chances, it has amber warning included for "Kent" however Medway usually appears as a seperate area on these warnings, i assume we're better off then "east kent" but we're quite far east in the grand scheme of things (compared to the majority of those amber warning areas for example) i know its a bit silly to get hung up on these details 24-30 hours ahead of the game, just interested how people view Medway geographically , surely its not east kent is it??! lol
