light snow now in Coulsdon

just getting the very first very small flakes her in Cousldon.

Hard frost down to -3.6c but up to -1.6c now as cloud drifts up from the south. Not a breath of wind

Just had a look at the pressure drop here in Cousldon when storm Ciaran arrived. The lowest pressure recorded was on Thursday morning at 955.2MB, 24 hours earlier it was 988.4 so we had a drop of 33.2MB in 24 hours so that is definately "explosive cyclogenesis". In fact if it was to be 25hours it would have gone from 991.6 to 955.2 so 36.4MB. Interestingly we have had a 20MB drop since 10pm last night as well althiugh that seems to have bottomed out now.

The low pressure is definately filling, the pressure is slowly rising, up to 958.4 now. Still calm winds and no rain at the moment.

like others its very calm wind wise here at the moment. 28.2mm of rain since midnight (47mm since start of Nov, i.e yesterday) and pressure currently 955.2 but heading down still.

The M23 this lunchtime was more of a river than a motorway. Luckily everyone was driving sensibly, 40mph was as fast as you could safely go due to the amount of rain, spray and surface water.

the warmest part of the day was 8pm this evening.

first frost of Autumn here last night . we only got down to -0.6c but frost on rooves and grass was a pleasant sight. it mase for a lovely dog walk.

day 7 of the hot weather and the first time we have gone above 30c this week. 29.9c on several occasions. Being in a N/S valley means that this time of the year the sun disappears behind the trees on the hill around 14:30, so we don't get that mid afternoon heat. currently 30.2c

by far the warmest day of the year so far. currently 29.7c . after gin clear skies this morning, the cumulo nimbus clouds are starting to bubble up here over the North Downs.

Just started snowing again here. Temp has dropped 4c since 7am. Now just 1.7c

Very wet snow and about 4cms here. The roads around coulsdon are treacherous, if there was any salt it hasn’t activated enough. Even the bus was sliding and gave up going up the hill to old coulsdon.

definately chilly outside now and the moon is shining bright. temp has dropped down to -1.2c and dp is -2c. frost already forming on the wet grass so should be perfet base for when the snow arrives

Hi Nick, that little bit of elevation obviously helps. Here the rain has stopped and that’s about it. We’ve had 8mm since midnight so things are a little soggy in places.

Pouring with rain and very wet outside with large puddles. Radar shows rain all the way. Just don’t think the cold air got down here quick enough.

having been dry for over a month and yesterday feeling cold wih max of 3.7c and dp of -1, we've now had 3.4mm rain today (and its still raining), temp of 5.6c and dp is 4. cold weather ariving ?

Cold day here today under the leaden skies. It managed to get to 3.7c this afternoon so a bit cooler than was forecast.

Unlike 1963 or even yesterday this morning the temp is above freezing (1.2c) and has been all night so a frost free morning.
