  1. Moonwalking Fox Index................. Although...I'm looking at the buzz about cold and snow and my mind does return to the guy running up Marlow High St with three sledges...was MSI correct? Who is that man and what does he know?? I bet it just ends up very cold and dry though.
  2. Meto now showing snow showers on Tuesday here. Just an observation - the fatball feeders in the garden are emptying in days rather than weeks and birds like thrushes and corvids who ignore them are decimating the fatballs!
  3. Good shopping weather today, mild but not warm and no rain. Even managed to take the last lot of junk from the lotty to the tip. @stainesbloke those peas sound interesting, let me know how they get on. I believe blue pumpkins are sweet and perfect for pie. Can't wait for the growing season now. This caught my eye on Twitter: @liamdutton Growing confidence that high pressure will have a greater influence on the UK weather into February. However, still lots of uncertainty as to the position and orientation of the high pressure, which in turn determines how cold it’ll get and any associated snow risk. Stay tuned!
  4. Ooh fab, hoping to get up to mine this Sunday. Don't know what novelty thing to grow this year, thinking about blue pumpkins. Five weeks of winter left...I wonder what it will bring?
  5. Stoppped snowing 15 minutes ago - but in the last 5 minutes it's back heavier than before and huge flakes! Settling on the roof now.
  6. Sleet rain turned to snow about an hour ago, only a smatting on the ground but lovely to see. Daphne not impressed with the snowflakes stuck in her tail though, one monkey nut and she's back off to bed!!
  7. Woken 3 times last night by terrific 60 mph gusts...neighbour has lost a fence panel, we're not even in the warning area. I bet my allotment is a mess!
  8. https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings#?date=2018-01-17&lat=51.6158&lon=-0.7337 Yellow wind warning for all of us.
  9. Saw a bloke with buying 3 sledges yesterday...does he know something we don't??? Marlow Multiple Sledgebuyers Index?!!!!
  10. Ok, well I have spent 4 days doing perfectly synchronized dancing to New Rules and Club Tropicana, building an entire lego town while cooking everything with a dollup if either Nutalla - and in the brief moments I have escaped my nieces, I tried to catch up with the general consensus of the OMD thread...and failed as it's more baffling than usual. So, uh, what's occurring dear weather folk???
  11. Rain turned absolutely torrential now with that squall passing over. A few powerful gusts too.
  12. Busy few days, no chance to look at forecasts much - then out of the blue yesterday afternoon I had the opportunity for a seaside walk. Packed a packet of crisps and my phone and off I went. Did not realise heavy rain was due. After half an hour of dry conditions, we watched as the weather came in, drained the colour from everything (this photo is not a black and white photo!), driving wind and hail so fierce that it physically pushed us off the beach! Amazing! Sun came out and then went down - a stunning day weatherwise.
  13. @Daniel* Sorry to hear you got burgled as Christmas, that's really awful. I'm lucky never to have been burgled but I know from those who have that there is a really tough emotional impact. @lassie23 There is someone in custody at the moment but it's been less that 24 hours so we await news. I don't know the injured person. Only a few hours earlier there was a separate issue less than a mile away as someone's door was daubed with swastikas. I can't wait to get out of this dump next year! Onto weather night now, it's wild out there and I can hear the wind in the trees over the tv - and our lights keep dimming! Was going to put the recycling out until I looked at the radar!
  14. Not a memorable xmas, didn't start well when our neighbourhhood became a preserved crime scene overnight! An attempted murder with firearms apparently. I've injured my hand so can't cook and my boyfriend passed out after just two pints in the pub at lunchtime and as a result we had a rather rubbish 5pm burned xmas dinner! A bit of a strange christmas! Oh well, I have a fab t-shirt with a weather symbol on and chocolate, it's not all bad. Trying to decipher what's going on wednesday morning, we're not in the warning area but meto hourly insist on snow. Wait and see?
  15. It's -2.1.c here, not 2.1.c. We have a ceiling projector clock with in/out temps and I was too lazy to turn the turn the light off when looking at it!! Lots of people on High Wycombe social media pages reporting bad road conditions because of ice.
  16. Temps falling away now, my partner has permission to leave work early and come in late tomorrow due to the threat of icy roads, people are taking this ice threat seriously, especially on the winding rural roads of the Chilterns. Be careful out there folks.
  17. Dew Point. You need to be looking for a it to be 0.c or below or you'll get rain not snow.
  18. Woke to rain and 1.4.c in the night and the sound of dripping from gutters, fell back to sleep and woke at 7am to find it was already snowing. Fun in the snow all day on and off. Feel so happy for those with kids who finally got to build snowmen with them. I built a snow lantern out of snowballs this evening and it was surprisingly effective! (and didn't melt!)
  19. He fronted a video for schools about electricity once and my science teacher Miss Powell played it to use three times in one year. That extended yellow warning brings us Wycombe folk into the snow warning. Sometimes quite a difference between the hills and valleys though, will this be one of those times?
  20. Farctic. I've lost confidence we'll see any snow in the next 72 hours. *launches toys from the perambulator*.
  21. Amazing - we are no neither in the snow or wind warning areas, we must be in that tiny slither inbetween! Great Misseneden up the road where the odffice is is under the show warning, though.
  22. Ahhh, a brief flurry here just now, lovely hearing the crackle of snowflakes landing on autumn leaves on the ground.
