  1. The good weather helped people cope with isolation better I think. Although we lived in a flat, the government kept allotments open and we spent almost every day there. I think our WFH was about 7 weeks and we really did not want to go back to the office because of the lovely weather.

  2. Powercut in the night seemingly. As I'm back in my rental flat in Wycombe for a bit while the bathroom installed in my new place, I woke up at 2am feeling very confused about where I was,  the wind was howling though the trees, my touch lamp was going mental and flashing, the alarm clock was going off..and I head a strange crunch outside - my bird feeder, which has been here for years was finally blown over , smashing the baffle.  And all this after Henk flooded the Thameside villages.

A windy start to 2024 for sure.

  3. Quite a few trees down around, including a very lucky driver in Cookham who escaped with minor injuries after a tree flattened their car while driving.

I snapped these strange circular clouds just before the strongest winds hit, a bit like mammatus. The skies were amazing this afternoon.

  4. Holy heck, a terrifically loud clap of thunder about an hour ago seemingly heard for miles from Maidenhead to Wycombe!!!

Social media across several different Facebook group all had posts asking where the explosion was. Some people though it was another Buncefield.

Only one unremarkable flash seen by my partner near Marlow but not me in Wycome, I just heard what sounded like an enormous crash.

What on earth made it so loud I wonder! Strike looks like it was a good 5 miles away near Cookham, Berks.

    Exciting.

Almost certainly the LP. There is seasonal affective disorder as well which can cause feelings of depression. Linked to less sunlight which leads to lower serotonin (mood regulation basically). A heavy head doesn't usually coincide with s.a.d (I wish they would rename this!! Pet peeve...flipping labels!) so I'd say it's likely Ciaran

Try and find an activity you enjoy Emz. Something that will focus your attention.. a puzzle, reading your favourite book, playing with the pets, going for a walk (exercise = great for low mood as it releases endorphins aka "happy hormones")..All natural mood lifters.

If none of the above appeals, have a chat with a friend! Or even drop me a DM if all else fails. I'm a huge advocate for better minds! Look after yourself.. 🙂

Ah what  a lovely post, thank you!! I haven't been able to do much exercise in the past week for various reasons, plus the dark evenings and  strange low pressure feels have all combined I think! I've heard some people take magnesium when seasonal mood disorders arise, so I think it's time I gave that a try too.

Thank you for your kindness ☺️

One of my sisters have been flooding out in her home in Horncastle. Apart from turning the electricity off and running a few things upstairs, she doesn't know what to do or how much worse it will get.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue says it has received 330 flood-related calls.

That's my sister's car, she didn't have time to get back from work in time to move it, it came up so quick.

  7. Beautiful day yesterday, didn't feel cold despite the temps, I spent much of the day at the marina in just a hoodie.

But just after 7am this morning, my heating clicked on for the first time this autumn, so I guess it's lower that 18.c in here.

    Time for winter duvet!

  8. I hate March. February you can still get cracking cold weather, April some lovely sunny days and spring flowers. March is just a month of cold wind.

And when Easter is in March, it seems such a waste having 4 days off when the weather is just boring and chilly. Easter is a moveable feast, so I've heard - so move it to June!!

In 33 days time, sunset here will be 4.41pm. I love autumn...but afternoon sunsets are depressing.
