Mammatus?
Yes, good memory there Sno...

No one is any better than another, we all have our opinions and it's nearly impossible to guessimate what the weather will do in set ups like this.
Spot on PS.
Snowing moderately here now with a dusting.......

Intrigued! What was your old user name?
I'll give you a clue....... My old user name was a storm cloud.....
My present screen name will be changed soon anyway...... was a bit of business promoting for what has been a complete flop....... excuse the pun

Well let's hope it keeps building eh?
To right sno problem.....
Certainly an increase in precipitation on the MetO radar the last hour across Suffolk and Essex......... which is heading your way

Persistant light snow here in Suffolk.......
Bitter outside

Air Freshener
Thanks for the advice people. Preparation better than cure next time....... I'll reduce my daily intake of weetabix from 15 down to 2.
Light snow flurries now and my wind has gone after a recent vigorous outburst from the buttocks

Its not snowing here and I've got wind
-
I'm going to make a snowman indoors later.............. I don't suppose it will last long with the underfloor heating though
-
Heavy snow in Haverhill......
Definately laying now with 1 meter 1 CM on the grass.

Slabs of partially frozen rain plummeting to earth here in the depths of southwest Suffolk
-
Still drizzling...........

Really grotty day in Suffolk.
Lashing it with drizzle with temps dropping south slowly, although still well above freezing, very much closer to sleet particals

Well good night all, lets see what tomorrow brings. Get your provisions ready for the Radar session,Worry about who gets what tomorrow, A lot can and probably will still change. This time tomorrow will be location, location ,location.
Touch and go situation. There is always another day. Dont worry be happy, whether rain or snow. It's not over until the fat lady sings. Every cloud has a silver lining.
Goodnight all.

Snowstorm up north....... people trapped on the M6
-
- Heavy snow
- Moderate S/SE wind
- Temperature 0.3C
- Dew Point -1.2
A memorable cold spell this has been. Several snow events, one lasting 22 hours albeit light.... but persistant nonetheless! Severe night time frosts with a minumum of -13.2 here in Haverhill. Days on end where temperature's never rose above freezing point.... often well below.

With Ian Fergusson......
Temperature's will not rise anymore tonight across EA & the SE until the front clears east tomorrow morning.
Once the heavy precipitation enters our region expect evaporative cooling and some HEAVY snow...... from 00:00 onwards.
I disagree with TEITS. Essex & Suffolk will see initial rain & sleet, then 3/4 hours of HEAVY snow dumping several inches in it's wake. Our region is still pulling in cold air from France....... cold enough to mix out the mild....ish air over the coming hour or so.
I expect the south coast to see rain though, with winds coming immediately off the Channel. Unlike N.France where it is HEAVY snow currently.

Big wind storm potential during the last week of January.
Prior to that concern, we have more snowfall, ice and then flooding to deal with.
Interesting model watching at present!!

http://www.meteox.co...&soort=loop1uur
well you can watch it coming!!
I'll be giving that a miss thanks tinybill...... it's so slow moving it makes watching paint dry sound exciting.
Will radar watch from 06:00 tomorrow...... bit nearer the time

I dont get this from the NAE, it shows snow for almost everywhere at this time (which is +6hrs, on the 06z) but radar shows nothing, can anyone explain?
The light shades are generally cloud cover. It's the following darker shade (Blue - rain/Pink - snow) that would likely cause light rain/light snow. Ignore the really light shade unless you are a fan of 8/8 cloudcover observing .
