Everything posted by I remember Atlantic 252

  1. Gentleshaw will be okay 216m asl, elevation rules, low levels suck
  2. friday even less chance for high levels, big mild sector modeled over midlands, another wet day coming up
  3. agree with that, but weirpig may see lots 215m not too bad, but I have been telling people about washout Stafford tomorrow, similar to Wed 17th Feb
  4. eh? that's the way it is though, I expect nowadays the Atlantic to dominate from late Nov through to at least Mid Feb, whenever it dosen't is rare and a bonus especially early Dec to mid Jan, to me is the most westerly/stormiest period of the year
  5. bit disappointing but expected really, we are an Atlantic island with prevailing westerlies
  6. feb often best, as it's normally the least Atlantic dominated month, finished well here 9 dry days on the trot, but another snowless one
  7. sigh, back to normal from tomorrow, low pressure, wet days, paying for the 9 dry days on the trot
  8. Agree about Feb being coldest month and Dec warmest, but isn't that only because of frequency of Atlantic air/low pressure? surely if we had exactly same setup mid Dec and mid Feb, mid Dec would be colder, seas colder also in Feb, colder still in march
  9. early cold way better, late Feb is just too warm, but seas the other way too cold for decent showers, Dec colder land/temps warmer seas bigger showers Wed does not interest me, models overdo snow potential, can guarantee nearer time that will downgrade to north only
  10. trouble is Dec is when you need these setups, not late Feb, but not possible in Dec due to raging Atlantic
  11. yes, good charts for hillier areas oop norf again, had enough now come on Summer
  12. happy b'day nick! yes here not as bad as 2013/14, a few washouts, worst 17th Feb, bit more snow
  13. I agree with this, roll on Summer, charts look absolute pants for my location if it's snow/cold or warmth you're after wouldn't agree though if I lived at decent elevation oop norf, would be thinking stuff summer bring on the snaw
  14. April though creates convective cloud, unless easterlies, then my area struggles with north sea dirt, mist burnt off very quickly today, by 8am, same setup in say May, would take until 1pm ish
  15. can definitely tell it's February, stronger sun, usually sunniest month, as any later in year more cloud due to convection
  16. 5th Jan got around 8cms, evening of 23rd Dec was my first snow around 2cms, then around 2cms on 31st remember 20th Dec too well, could see the showers tracking ESE missing me, Stockport damn. similar on 22nd
  17. bbc going for light rain here tonight, this winter is frost and rain, does snow still exist???????
  18. yes, if I had posted on here in say April 2013, '3 mild snowless winters coming up for the south' everyone would have laughed
  19. light shower missed me to the west? anyone west of me under it? around 5pm, thought it may fall as soft hail
  20. late Feb not winter as such, this setup in Dec would be true winter, but won't happen with too active Atlantic
  21. feel if we had that setup now, just rain at low levels in the south, average temp rise of say 0.3C enough to make a difference
  22. shame this setup not possible in Dec, due to raging zonality, but if it was, would be miles colder, ice days, but the reason Feb is the coldest month due to less Atlantic influence
