Another beautiful day stuck in a windowless factory till 4pm, thankgoodness the sun's still high enough to get an hour in after work before it drops behind the woods.

No shocks it looks like immediately warming up again next week after a washout weekend :nonono:

Ay, after mondays washout, looks like the usual warm tues/wed setup,

GFS has been toying with a southerly flow next week with high pressure on the near continent for a few days now....very nice if it comes off! Plus BH weekend looks quite nice for the S half of the country at least. Bank!

so have all the models now, hopefully it's tempered a bit, like these last 3 days, perfect summer days, sunny and 23C

Just a shame there was never any nice weather to break down here in the first place. Yet another largely dull day. Looks particularly horrendous on the east coast over the next few days.

yes, I think west midlands, and as you say east coast will struggle with north sea mist Tuesday, bbc kind of showing it as well

This summer, why so cloudy? I just can't understand it, there hasn't been any real low pressure since June, no thundery outbreaks since then, no North Sea cloud setups, in fact it's often been on the anticyclonic side. There have been long spells with little or no rain too. I think before the 2007 switch this would have been a decent summer, with lots of 24-25C sunny weather sandwiching the hot spell and some more warmth between the thunderous showers in June. Something has happened since to make every setup cloudier than it used to be. This summer it's often been 20-21C under a complete blanket of cloud, the warmth is there unlike some years and it would rise to the mid-20s if only the cloud would get lost.

It must be the melting ice putting layers of moist air up there, or something. The synoptics don't explain it this year. And th  other thing- it's nearly always windy in summer these days, even when the pressure is 1020mb+. That never used to happen either.

cumulus infill, really only clear sky setup is easterly winds, Apr to may, but our areas then cloudy due to north sea mist

Today wasn't so good - we had brief drizzle in the morning, but in general it was just cloudy, dry and breezy. Reached 21C, so not cool - but some more sunshine would have been appreciated.

It's interesting to see Tuesday get downgraded so dramatically - earlier this week we had mid 20s and sun. Now the BBC show cloud and 19C. With an easterly wind, low cloud might be an issue here.

but hasn't later in week upgraded? looking maybe 23-25C, where as earlier in week was looking pants, if anything models been upgrading the fine spell

Good evening, guys! I am back! Interesting bit of convective weather coming up! Looks like the potential of elevated thunderstorms on Tuesday Night for SW areas but haven't looked in detail and certainly not getting hopes up at this range.

good to see you back William! yes thunderstorms possible Tue/Wed, Wed now looking more likely and hottest day
