  1. Wee dusting here. Maybe a touch more to come soon looking at the radar. Started again as I type
  2. I agree. Doesn’t happen very often. I need to get from Bo’ness to South Queensferry in the morning. Could be an interesting drive!
  3. Now at 8” here and it is big, heavy flakes. Keep digging out the car in anticipation of trying to get to work tomorrow morning! Radar looking like it’s keeping coming.
  4. I shouldn’t have been so sceptical, Bo’ness is doing not too bad out this at the moment. Lots of lovely showers stacking up and drifting up the forth. Cars already being left stuck on the hills though and a couple of hours yet until other half has to get home from Stirling.
  5. Was thinking that looking at the charts. I’m in Bo’ness and waking up that morning in 2010 was absolutely jaw dropping! My profile picture is my back garden fence LOL. Snow is often rubbish here but when conditions are just right it can pay off. Wee dusting at the moment though. Nice to see the sunshine, the dug was a bit disorientated!!
  6. Mainly a lurker, but poking my head out. Exciting times coming up. Hoping for a wee streamer up the forth and the wind in the right direction. Reality will probably be a dusting one morning. Two if I’m lucky.
  7. Killers, wee bit advice please? My weather station outside receiver is mounted on the top right hand corner of the north facing shed wall. Is it too high or totally in the wrong place? It recorded 30.9 yesterday and I don't think that was accurate! Would like to try and get an accurate reading today.
  8. The snow has been pelting down for best bit of an hour here and I am only 70m above sea level.
  9. That's the snow back on heavy here, certainly heaviest since Friday morning. It's like the snow Gods knew that all the local primary schools had organised voluntary snow clear ups at 11am ??
  10. I think I might be under that wee red blob in the middle - hard to tell!
  11. I have never seen snow like this in my life! Blowing a horizontal hoolie so it just looks like fog. Tracked it sauntering up the Forth. 12 yr old away out to play ??
  12. Youngest son learned his lesson - don’t attempt a snow angel with a lab puppy around!
  13. Back on here now and the radar looking packed. That's all Falkirk district schools already announced as closed tomorrow.
  14. Oh I'm watching that streamer and willing it towards me! Got a couple of very impacted centimetres here but nothing major. The noise through the night was proper 'Day After Tomorrow' stuff! What a racket.
  15. No been out with the ruler yet (I would need to get my big coat on, it looks a bit chilly). From my lampost spotting seat though I can see the moon just now and it is absolutely beautiful, so clear and bright!
  16. Tons of the wee blowy stuff streaming in sideways ? Right, where is the ruler...
  17. Yup all school in Falkirk Council catchment closed tomorrow. I have a couple of thrilled kids here!
  18. It does, thanks for that! I'll add it to my list of weather terms I bandy about to appear far more knowledgable than I am ? And it's just coated the ground nicely for the big fluffy flakes ?
  19. Few wee snow showers here today. Ground drying up between each one. Bit nippy out ? Today I am mainly staring at the snow radar willing the pink blobs up the Forth.
  20. Just had to forcibly shove the dogs out for their nighttime 'business'. Absolutely bitter outside. Think the youngest Lab may have broken the land speed record getting back in. I hope to see a snaw dusting in the morning (who am I kidding, I will be up at least twice for a lampost stare).
  21. Wee question folks. If you stay in a town on the south banks of the Forth but elevated up a hill, is that good positioning for a Forth streamer? Bo'ness can be a bit of a hit or a mis when it's coming from the West (big shout out to the Grangemouth snow shield ?) We were absolutely buried in 2010 and I am wondering if that was the cause.
  22. It's getting chilly out Currently 0.4 degrees - and I know this because after blathering on about the weather for the last few winters the other half surprised me with a wee weather station ? Only problem is I'm now being asked question like 'what's a dew point?', 'what does this number mean', 'is that humidity good?' No idea pal, but I can tell you the temperature in the kitchen and outside at the north facing wall of the shed.
  23. Well this is all getting exciting noo! I am trying my best not to say much to the kids because the huffs when the snow wasn't enough to close the schools earlier this winter were insufferable. Better to be surprised! I will never forget that morning in 2010 going about making my coffee when I opened the kitchen blinds, turned away then execute a perfect 180 spin and shouted for everyone to wake up. (I once read a joke in a magazine that there are only 2 occasions you should wake a sleeping woman - when a celebrity has died or when it has snowed. Very true) My profile pic was my garden fence a few days later. I guess being on the banks of the forth sometimes pays off. I hope it does this week!
