Yellow warning for snow and ice issued from 5pm tomorrow to 10am Tuesday

Rain, sleet and snow followed by ice likely to cause some impacts to travel.

    What to expect

    • Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services
    • Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
    • Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths

An area of rain will turn to sleet and snow from the north, initially over Scotland, and then over northern England during Monday evening. Accumulating snow will mostly be above 200-300 m, but possibly to lower levels in Scotland for a time, with 2-5 cm in places. Sleet and snow clearing southeastwards overnight into Tuesday, with temperatures then falling and ice forming, particularly on untreated surfaces.

To be honest I'm ready for some spring warmth.

Yet the met office are still forecasting no precip for my area for the next 7 days

Same. Live in Trimdon, County Durham. There is no precipitation (of any kind) forecast for here between Monday 6th to Saturday 11th March.

Expecting nothing more than 4 days of cold Mon-Thurs followed by a steady warm up.

Personally, ready for spring now and some warmth but equally would not be surprised if temps remained on the cooler side throughout the rest of this month and into first week of April.

In all of the above years we got pasted here in the North east.  We are defo more snowy than down south I'd say.  They're  just having their turn at the minute.  There's met warnings for here,  it's freezing and we have snow showers coming down from the North.  It's a great start to winter proper!

I'm pretty happy with what we've had in this part of County Durham. Snow last Thursday and on Saturday. Decent covering, ice days, freezing fog. Transformed the landscape. Anything hereon in is a brucie bonus.
