  4. 9.4c overcast today, We got 3 weeks till Easter and beach kiosks in midst of there spring clean ready for first bank holiday of season, Last year Weymouth had bad season despite hopes for Olympic boost, Know from friends in trade that this year will be crunch year for lots of small seasonal businesses, The Weymouth Carnival is under threat of not taking place this year,due to lack of money, Another summer of incement weather will see lots of businesses finally fold,

  6. I had peruse of mod thread to get idea for next weeks weather. Non the wiser and actually totally confused, Will I never learn just to read posts on here from our model posters, Been nice day after early fog cleared, Had interesting few hours up at Water Mill,that is being restored, Found old Beer bottle there, from Strongs Brewery, Romsey. It has internal screw cap, Bottle brown not labeled but embossed with brewery name. Was found in old wooden box under some rubble,
  7. Nice and sunny, Been down to Water mill, Look what out sun bathing, Little disconcerting in the long grass, Theres corrugated roof sheet and old stones lying around, Good home for Adders

  9. Well signing in ready for season, The storm that Chris K mentions above was a real thing of beauty here, I went to observe the storm from hill overlooking the Cerne Giant. Was mystical magic experience to see the Giant illuminated by the lightning. It was almost fluorescent, This year have camera at the ready and hope for decent night storm,,,,,,,,,,,
  10. if you empty your pond, the newts would relocate themselves, if another pond near by, They not territorial and should be ok, If think got great crested newts,should contact your Wildlife trust for advice, Catching and transfering newts to another pond could be dodgy if seen doing it without permission,,,,,,,,Think your trust number is 01823 652400 [Wellington] Email enquires@somersetwildlife.org,,,,Hope that helps,,,,, [ breeding time early April to early August, depending local variations]
  11. Pleasent blue sky and sun, little hazy,but nice afternoon, Noticed the sun also brought out masses of Trichoceridae [ winter gnats]

  15. For my location seems like endless dull grey cold days, Sun here seems rare commodity, If after this week it turns colder,just hope can have some cold crisp Sunny days,

  17. Do agree with your post,, Change of season is slow transition,not overnight affair just,because Met say now Spring, Was surprised to see post in mod thread suggesting idea of Spring Equinox, was some modern "American Idea", Trouble with weather it refuses to follow man made rules,,

Well here we had surprise snow in November, So just maybe few flakes in March would nicely bookend winter Then full steam into proper spring, Lots of motorbikers going past at moment, There first outing of season, They sure kick up noise but nice to see some of the old vintage bikes. Taking the old cow for a spin!!!!!!!!!.
