I have always said aitch...but more and more people appear to say haitch...i wonder why it appears more prevelant?

    3. CreweCold

they just say aitch, with the letter they're trying to pronounce in front of it. So it ends up haitch.

    4. cheese

      cheese

Pronunciations change over time, and people in different countries can be influenced by how other nationalities pronounce things. Haitch is the most common way of saying H in Ireland and Australia, and appears to be on the rise in the UK, too. Kind of similar to how people will now sometimes say garbage or dinner over rubbish or tea (and I've tended to say those words too).
