  1. Seen one or two flakes past the streetlight. Looks like a heavier shower to the east, I am surprised it has stayed intact for so long moving across the country (yes, I've been watching it all afternoon haha)
  2. The BBC mentioned freezing rain, and this would not be at all surprising given the temperatures have been below freezing all day. Potentiallly tricky conditions later and thoroughly unpleasant if out in it (I have the work's christmas party later so I will be one of those people!)
  3. Foggy all day here on the outskirts of Taunton, a low of -5.2°C has translated into a day with a high of -1.3°C. Now back down to -1.9°C. I saw the sun once, through the fog, but it has thickened up again.
  4. Temperature reached the dizzy heights of 1.2°C today following a low of -2.7°C. Now back down to -1.4°C with clear skies.
  5. Clouding over here now. Temp 0.5°C. Maybe wishful thinking but the precipitation seems to be making some northward progress now.
  6. The rain has been very heavy here over the last few hours. Coupled with the very heavy showers earlier today, this has given us 30.0mm of rain so far today. Pressure is also the lowest it has been in the nearly 4 years I have been recording at this house, currently 966.5mb and falling
  7. Looks like another dollop of torrential rain coming from the southwest this time rather than south, so not surprised to see the amber. 68.0mm of rain since midnight now.
  8. Yeah, seems like we have a dry slot for another hour or so at a guess then maybe another dose before it improves later I reckon. I'm on the southern edge of Taunton myself, and have known it many times to be raining in one part of town but not the other lol. I used to live in Langport area, I expect the lanes around those parts are a bit dicey currently, be careful if you do go out :) Yup, does seem to be shifting more north now! To be fair, there wasn't much thunder, the rain was the biggest story. Enjoy anyway!
  9. Often with these warnings for storms I quite often miss out or don't get much. I never moan of course because I understand in these setups it can be quite localised, many don't understand that though. We are now up to 62.4mm of rain since midnight, rain has eased considerably now but I'm not sure we've seen the last of it.
  10. After a wet day yesterday (24.0mm), this morning has been next level! 49.4mm of rain SINCE MIDNIGHT, it has been absolutely torrential and isn't easing up just yet. Had a very loud crack of thunder about 10 minutes ago. I wonder what rain total we will end up on today?! In the time I took to write this post, we are now up to 51.0mm
  11. Had a 48mph gust here earlier, was enough to blow over my potted cherry tree which is in a very large and heavy pot that has been there for a few years now. Only received 2.4mm of rain here through this whole storm which is the most surprising thing.
  12. They literally popped up out of nowhere just east of here! Heard loud cracks of thunder and had a few big splashes of rain but just a little too far east.
  13. Well it certainly did start raining here (at last!). Had a decent dollop of rain in the last 20 minutes or so, 5mm so far and rising. I am happy the garden is finally getting a natural watering.
  14. I literally give up! Dry as a bone here when temps and dew points have been favourable. A decent amoint of convection finally makes it here and it is RAIN as the temp is 2.7°C and the dew point is 1°C. This Winter just cannot deliver the goods here so far, a teaser Winter.
  15. Then fizzle in the next frame! However, it does seem some more localised development is occurring instead of waiting for the odd scrap from Wales.
  16. Just another heavy dollop of rain here to add to the bad flooding in these parts. Probably for the best this next low keeps south considering, however much I would like to see some decent snow in yet another close but no cigar winter.
  17. Too right! 30 second sprinkle of snow last night and that's it, very disappointing. I can't believe how many close shaves we have had with this cold spell. So many close but no cigar moments IMBY.
