  1. Was caught in an epic storm over Glos / Chelt today at 17:30 / 18:30 today... Most main roads were impassable and the roads that were , weere pretty much small rivers! ( Brock worth road, hucclecoat road ) My car was STEAMING! when i got home... I worry It may of been too much water.... ( On way home from down south .. ) Either way.. Some lovely purple CG and some great sounding booms. ( probably 2 to 3 a min ) . +1 Storm for this year ( Thats 1 more than the last 5 years )
  2. All I want is 35c from the 6th of june to the 23rd please. No wind either, So I can spend as much time as possible out at sea fishing! Not much to ask is it?
  3. I think ive had two minor frosts this year. Dont think temps here got anywhere lower than -2c on more than 3 days. Most days its been between 4c and 11c. Bad winter. Lets hope summer is full of very hot days and thundery nights.
  4. Lovely, More rain. Gloucester is probably about 1 foot away from being a major crisis. We have some major flooding already but its about 1foot away from flooding huge areas. A field near me that floods every year ( usually about 1 to 2 ft deep, is about 10 ft deep now ) Yay the winds have possibly stopped for a few days but this rain just wont let up. My grass is dead from being pretty much under water all winter. Problem is we have clay like soil here, so in the summer I fall down cracks the size of my fist and in winter we have to swim to work
  5. Extremely windy here. Fences down . Very messy.
  6. Wow, talk about stalling. The system is a good 6 hours behind scheduled.. Will it deepen further due to this? Will it move further north due to the lack of push from the jet? Will be an interesting evening. Quite gusty here,
  7. THIS.. Yellow warnings seem almost pointless now. Most of the time if you get an orange the weather is "not great" but its ok. Yellows have lost their impact..
  8. Agreed. This forum will spark into life if the metoffice move the orange a bit further north. I think everyones has given up on the south coasts lol
  9. Its a much wetter storm this one. Gonna get wet(ter)
  10. I did read somewhere that "normally" after a winter like this ( Mild and western driven ) we tend to have a quiet nice summer ( hot even )... Maybe a nice azores high would take place over us from lets say april till end of sept.
  11. On a lighter note, It does look like after Friday, we may have a quiet week next week!
  12. A lot of downplaying for tomorrows storm going on.. I dont think this is warranted. To me, the winds look just as severe ( maybe not over such a wide area ) However if that low nudges even 100 miles north.. The whole of the South, Southwest, South midlands , South wales are in for a terrible time. Extreme amounts of rain is predicted ( Seems wetter than yesterdays .... ) and the Wind / Gusts look very similar. Maybe not quite 110mph, but we are looking at a good 90mph in places.. This is still extremely damaging. Considering the South have taken the brunt of these storms, this is just going to be the icing. Inland gusts are severe compared to recent storms that are very much coast affairs. My 2cents.
  13. Maasive thunder snow storm here.. a good 4 to 5 flashes a min.. purple sky. No cg..
  14. Getting very gusty here now. Been breezy most of the day, but now its very windy compared.
  15. I was expecting the rain to be worse.. However Here we havent had much at all.. Are we thinking a lot of convective rain? The showers behind appear quite potent.. Maybe they will "pep" up when they hit land?
  16. They both just went offline...... Something happened lol. Watched while both streams died.
  17. Danger Danger: TORNADO WATCH 2014/001 ( FROM TORRO ) A TORRO TORNADO WATCH has been issued at 1125GMT on Wednesday February 12th 2014 Valid from/until: 11:25- 21:00GMT on Wednesday February 12th 2014 for the following regions Parts of (see map) England Wales S Scotland Channel Is IoM THREATS Tornadoes; wind gusts to 100mph; hail; isolated CG lightning DISCUSSION Intense Atlantic low will move from W Eire to W Scotland today. At the surface, a strong cold front will move east across much of Britain, with a very strong WSW'erly flow following, especially into western parts. Although instability along the cold front is meagre, intense forcing and very strong shear along it suggests a tornado risk with this feature, as well as gusts of 60-70mph, locally higher along exposed coasts. Following this cold front, a very tight pressure gradient will move in, especially for Wales and NW England. Very strong gusts of 80-90mph, and perhaps 100mph will affect parts of Wales, and NW England. Although these may occur independent of convection (and the risk is already covered by UKMO warnings), convection may enhance gusts, and thus this forecast includes this risk. The flow may be too intense for a tornado risk, but it is not out of the question. Forecaster: RPK.
  18. You are looking at the 850hpa not surface wind. This is what you want. http://earth.nullschool.net/#2014/02/12/1200Z/wind/surface/level/orthographic=-9.07,50.93,1907
  19. Looking very windy here: http://www.exmouthcam.co.uk/webcam/ Although, its pretty damn gusty here already
  20. Is it just me or is this delayed slightly today? ( only a few hours ) But from my reading, it looks like most inland areas could be hit hardest around home rush hour !? Havent checked what the PPN is like, I assume a fair amount.
