  1. The more I look at these forums the more confused I become - particular if I had looked at the MODS threads first.

Can anybody give me more of an idea whether we are predicted snow here ( I am in the Croydon area) we have a family member currently undergoing Chemotherapy and being stuck and unable to get to where you need to go because of the weather in those circumstances is pretty worrying.

Stick with reading Steve M, TEITS, Nick S, SK and John Holmes and then you should keep the confusion at bay.

    That's how I am learning.

You will soon know which posts to ignore.

There seems a potential for snow in your area especially as the latest runs have upgraded the precip ever so slightly.

Currently some light ppn looks our best bet for us in the SE. Hopefully this will change

  2. And tonights GFS is sponsored by zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.........

Fair play to the met office. We're quick to knock them, but they have nailed this cool dry spell perfectly before Spring arrives. Maybe Folkestone will see some snow though.

And tonight's posts (moans) are sponsored by Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

IMO the GFS 18z is good and continues the easterly theme for next week with cold and flurries by day 5 (for my location anyway)

Potential for snow at the weekend moving up from the Low Countries. but that's all relative.

As long as we don't see a continuation of a gentle push south, I'm confident of snow for my area next week.

So what if its only a flurry, I'm not naive enough to think another 91 event will happen!

I'll take a flurry over zonal crap any day!

  3. Just look how much the ECM has downgraded the snow potential for the north today, synoptically it's now inferior unless you are in the snow threat zone in the southwest, the really bitter arctic air is much further away to the north compared to the very wintry NEly blast it was showing a few days ago. Things will change and I hope it's a change for the better up north.

Frosty I really wouldn't keep beating yourself up about the North being dry!

It's 5 days away, so absolutely pointless looking at specifics. Remember snow can crop out of nowhere at T6.

The trend for an easterly is there and we now have all big models in agreement - let's get there first.

  4. Can't get my head around the MOD thread this morning.

ECM yesterday along with UKMO was the best model ever as it showed cold air heading our way with potential snow!

GFS was to be ignored as it showed nothing of the sort.

Now the GFS shows an easterly flow and ECM has a downgrade , GFS is an amazing model!

If there ever was proof of following your snowy preference in models this is it!

  5. Still getting the dull forecasters and news reporters on BBC sighing relief that the cold is coming to an end and the mild is returning for thursday. Do they not know we are still in winter and therefore it's expected to be a little cold?

"Some more snow on the way for Wednesday night, but at least it will turn milder for Thursday which will please most of us"

    Shut it!

    -Rant over-

I agree. Winter is suppose to be cold!

Also why is it such good news to forecasters, that milder weather is coming!

Milder weather usually means wet and windy, which means the risk of flooding!

The forecaster will then express their concerns about a flood issue and its like "hang on minute" you were pleased a few days ago when the mild weather returned. Make up your mind!

With the saturated wet ground across the UK I find it bizarre that forecasters are so happy for the return of wet and mild after any cold spell.

  6. Rubbish for snow this whole winter here in hastings .Roll on spring i say ,im sick of model watching ,lamp post watching & blob watching on the radar for a good snow event that has just not materialised here ! fedup.com fool.gif

    I can imagine!

As a snow lover it must be hard living on the coast! I'd have to move - lol

But come spring/summer your in my favourite part of the world. From Hastings all the way to Torquay. Love it
