  1. Stick with reading Steve M, TEITS, Nick S, SK and John Holmes and then you should keep the confusion at bay. That's how I am learning. You will soon know which posts to ignore. There seems a potential for snow in your area especially as the latest runs have upgraded the precip ever so slightly. Currently some light ppn looks our best bet for us in the SE. Hopefully this will change
  2. And tonight's posts (moans) are sponsored by Zzzzzzzzzzzzz IMO the GFS 18z is good and continues the easterly theme for next week with cold and flurries by day 5 (for my location anyway) Potential for snow at the weekend moving up from the Low Countries. but that's all relative. As long as we don't see a continuation of a gentle push south, I'm confident of snow for my area next week. So what if its only a flurry, I'm not naive enough to think another 91 event will happen! I'll take a flurry over zonal crap any day!
  3. Why are members following GFS ppn charts to a tee. Don't even consider ppn rates and locations until at least Tuesday. So that's another 14 GFS runs = 14 times the ppn amounts/locations will change!
  4. Frosty I really wouldn't keep beating yourself up about the North being dry! It's 5 days away, so absolutely pointless looking at specifics. Remember snow can crop out of nowhere at T6. The trend for an easterly is there and we now have all big models in agreement - let's get there first.
  5. Can't get my head around the MOD thread this morning. ECM yesterday along with UKMO was the best model ever as it showed cold air heading our way with potential snow! GFS was to be ignored as it showed nothing of the sort. Now the GFS shows an easterly flow and ECM has a downgrade , GFS is an amazing model! If there ever was proof of following your snowy preference in models this is it!
  6. It's breaking up big time. Doesn't seem to want to move any further east than potters bar. Typical, low temps and decent DP's = slight ppn High temps and high DP's = loads of ppn!
  7. Louise Lear just now on TV forecast. Snow for the Midlands northwards tomorrow.
  8. I agree. Winter is suppose to be cold! Also why is it such good news to forecasters, that milder weather is coming! Milder weather usually means wet and windy, which means the risk of flooding! The forecaster will then express their concerns about a flood issue and its like "hang on minute" you were pleased a few days ago when the mild weather returned. Make up your mind! With the saturated wet ground across the UK I find it bizarre that forecasters are so happy for the return of wet and mild after any cold spell.
  9. Yeh it's such a difference, I work nights around the Stratford(east London) area and there was only a very small amount last night there!
  10. Really surprised at the snow cover remaing here! Hardly any melt except for paths and roads! Epping Forest still looks like a Christmas card scene while i was walking the dog. Lovely!
  11. While it's encouraging that the overnight runs show some good substantial cold in FI, I'm not going to think anything of it just yet. It's 10 days away! Things will change! Just look at what the ECM was projecting for this cold spell. -10 uppers I believe with deep snow! Well it's been nothing like that and a lot if marginality for everyone!
  12. Don't feel stupid, about your "review" The ECM is FI la la, cuckoo land. If its the same at T0, then yes you can feel stupid :-)
  13. Yes it's been snowing most of the afternoon while I was at my sisters in Radlett. Useless snow though, doesn't settle but looks pretty!
  14. Are we likely to see snow in this region later Wednesday? Meto says sleet at best!
  15. I can imagine! As a snow lover it must be hard living on the coast! I'd have to move - lol But come spring/summer your in my favourite part of the world. From Hastings all the way to Torquay. Love it
  16. I have just arrived at my sisters in Radlet - NW London - SW herts! I can confirm that Epping has had a considerably more settling snow than here! Epping is a winter wonderland/ here, it's very patchy
  17. A reasonable melt going on here. Heavy traffic areas and paths have turned to a slushy mess! Still a 10cm covering over everything else!
  18. The heavy snow that's been falling over me again from 7am Is this a streamer or part of the low pressure system?
  19. The non grit side roads as ever are terrible! The main roads are ok but have snow build up to the side! Around 11cm here now, apparently Loughton where my other half works only have around 6cm!
  20. Over to Epping forest I go with the dog. Nice amount of snow here, just over 10cm and still I have falling snow! Makes that Monday morning just a bit more bareable!
  21. Official measurement of snow in my back garden. 10.5cm Snowing heavy here
  22. 5.5cm on garden table. Very intense snow still falling. Amazing! Right that's it I must get some shut eye and stop opening doors getting the house cold.
