  1. Heavier stream of snow now pepping up through the Thames valley - Maidenhead/Reading way. Just a bit too far north for me ...but looks to be heading towards Newbury.
  2. Possibility of streamer down the channel mentioned here to bring snow to S Devon and Cornwall??
  3. Latest ECM hinting at a battleground situation developing on Thursday/Friday with the cold trying to hang on - could lead to some heavy snow for a time. ...finally retreating for a day or two before starting to build back in with a big scandi high around 16th
  4. Hopefully, given the warnings, councils will prepare as best they can.
  5. lots out there, also lots of video ...just google... Madrid nieve
  6. Some lower dew points beginning to appear out to our east ..across the channel/North sea. 11.00 GMT 15.00 GMT
  7. At least atlantic systems shouldn't throw a spanner in the works!
  8. Yes my wife had recently moved, from Zimbabwe, to a small Somerset village with her parents. It proved to be something of a climatic shock!! The village was cut off by deep snowdrifts for many days --with helicopters from RNAS Yeovilton dropping essential food supplies for the villagers.
  9. Apparently GFS and ECMWF continue to support a cold outlook.
  10. Sorry to disappoint, but I think you mean feet- and you've rounded up a bit! ...Portsdown hill is 131m or 430 ft. But yes... much more likely to get snow over the landward side of the hill then in Portsmouth itself. The highest point in Hampshire is Pilot hill up near the Berkshire border at 286m or 938 feet. Butser hill, a bit up the A3 towards Petersfield is another good spot at 270m - I remember skiing down that after a huge storm back in the 1980s.
  11. Met office seem concerned about the impact of excessive Brussel sprout consumption on Christmas day?!
  12. I'm just south of Reading here ...we had some sleet while I was out and about in the car an hour or so ago. Not surprised that some of the higher areas of Reading (Caversham way) saw some snow. (Reading is generally between 40 and 70m asl) Wondering what the big clump of heavier precipitation to the east of the IOW might trigger in this neck of the woods later tonight.
