  1. woke up this morning at 3.30am to get ready to go to East Midands for a flight to Northern Ireland, absolutley clear with nothing falling, just a slight frost on the car. As I drove from Grantham to Nottingham startd to snow and settle with a moderate accumulation. Got in to the airport around 6am, gt through to the gate, flight cancelled due to tecnical problem, then a few minutes later the runway was shut due to the snow. This little lot that was enough to shut the airport came down in about a half hour. Drove back out of the airport and the roads were white over. Then battled my way back to Grantham to work, took about 1.5 hours compared to the normal 50 minute journey, and that was with light traffic., the journey back looked a lot different to the journey to the airport. I am not overstating this, the roads are a lot worse than they were Monday, all this has dropped on to cold ground, the roads are compacted snow now. Still coming down steadily, not quite as hard.
  2. had a driver in from Newcastle earlier on, he said that it wasn at all bad until about 7 miles from Grantham on the A1 then it started to get quite tricky. Been snowing consistently since 8am this morning, couple of white outs, roads not too ba where they have been gritted, lying snow not melting, think if we get more accumulations could rise quite rapidly, all schools in Grantham closed, but that not saying much s the usually close at the first whiff of the white stuff.
  3. been mostly on rather than off in acaster, just started throwing it down with larger flakes than before, previously like a fine hail with flurries, no feather dusters coming down. Settling on the ground nicely. Get a feeling this isnt the main event as it comes and goes.
  4. Wow, Near Ancaster (between sleaford and grantham) about 10 mile from you and nothing....nada Here's hoping..
  5. Heavy'ish snow shower here in Grantham, light dusting this morning, looks like a reasonable period of snow fall. Starting to settle. Simon.
  6. Few snow showers this morning, clouds blowing in very fast from NE direction, nothing lying as yet. Feels bitterly cold, as it always does in Lincolnshire when we get a NE wind. Here's hoping for later today. Ancaster, Nr Grantham, Lincs. Simon.
