So I think we can safely say that deep down we knew the so called cold spell was going to end up a non event. Like we said until Ian is on board with a sustained and note worthy cold spell then we shouldn't get our hopes up because we always get disappointed

I think that's when he thinks we will start getting severe winters again (but really severe, like extremely cold !!) until then your bog standard stuff. that doesn't mean he doesn't think we wont get cold winters before hand, just not extreme!

The last time we had a snow day was 2010/11, came back from Christmas holidays, (Iam a school teacher) went back to work for a day then had another week off, school was closed!!! Was awesome, it happened then, it will happen again!! Unfortunately Ian doesn't think it will happen until 2019/20.  Let's hope he's wrong and it happens next week:cold:

Yes the most accurate, even more than the pros and if we get a cold spell at the end of this month, beginning of May then people should stop and take notice!

Have you read Ian Ps  winter forecasts for the last couple of years?  They are very detailed and have been quite accurate recently, basically mild and stormy. When I first started reading them, I didn't want to believe, because of the mildness he was predicting every winter. As a coldie it makes for tough reading when all you want is the complete opposite. However here comes the good bit; he is predicting the change to happen from 2020 onwards and goes it to detail why he thinks so. I will post a snippet from an email he sent

Just wait post 2020, the winters starting from then are going to be a big change!! Trust me you'll be wishing for modern winters. They will be frigid compared to now... Only a couple of years to wait, be patient

Believe me towards the end of this decade, in 3-4 years time  he will start forecasting what people want to hear. I think we will need to endure a couple more stormy mildish winters before we get records broken for cold and snow in this country. I believe it will be a case of be carful what you wish for
