Read newspapers.

According to a private Met Office briefing given to the Government (subsequently shared with energy bosses), we are on track for a very, very mild winter.

J H Brazell, London Weather (to 1964), all temperatures degrees F.
Month Mean Diff from average Mean max Diff Mean min Diff Highest max Lowest max Highest min Lowest min
Jan 63 29.7 -9.8 33.1 -10.6 26.4 -8.9 41.9 27.0 36.7 14.5
Feb 63 32.5 -7.4 36.1 -8.5 28.9 -6.2 45.3 28.4 34.9 20.5
Mar 63 44.3 +0.5 49.8 -0.3 38.7 +1.2 57.0 40.8 46.2 27.1
Hope this makes sense. Lowest max / min temperatures were on 24th / 25th Jan. Highest max temperature was on 14th March. Brazell quotes a few more dates but not a daily tally. A cold, cold winter which I well remember!
Thank you very much.

Hello,
Does anyone have a list of daily temperatures in London for January, February and March1963?
I'm interested in seeing how cold it got but its really difficult to find this information. Closest I could find is the average temperature for the whole country.

Yes and yes! A kick in the teeth for those hoping for a front loaded winter!
True but having just checked now, this same forecast looked worse (?) in 2010 so there is hope haha.

Hey its snowing again. It's so cold every flake is settling. This is a nice surprise.
Why is there a 7 degree temp difference for tonight between the bbc and the metoffice?
-
Wow, where did this snow come from???
Amazing. Hammering it down and everything is completely covered again.

Hammering?! I can cope with snow reports across the region when it’s Essex or Suffolk but not when it’s one mile away!
Hahaha. I knew I should have bought that sledge on Saturday lol.

Hammering it down in Crawley
I think tomorow will be a surprise to many.

Coming down really thick and heavily now. What a great spell this has been. 2 days of bitterly cold temperatures with continuous snow. Everything has been covered in snow for two days now and looks so picturesque.

This is turning out to be a great spell for Crawley. Wasn't expecting this. It has really cheered me up. It has been snowing, albeit very slowly, for the most part of 36 hours. Everything is covered very well including side roads. Nothing seems to have melted as it is bloody freezing.
On top of this I see there is news of a potential streamer tonight!!

some light echoes have fire up near Edenbridge - that's close to you - so might be quicker than I thought for your location
Great stuff. My eyes hurt from looking at the lamp post haha

Think i might be in the game here - North downs snow blocker has been breached!!
You're not too far from me I think. I'm in Crawley. Do you think it will reach Crawley?

I hear there is talk of a streamer? Any likely to form?
Bit of a lull in the snow here in Crawley for the last hour.
BBC going for continuous snow from now till tomorrow afternoon whilst met office saying there will be nothing.

Everything is covered white now!

How are people doing around the Canterbury neck of the woods? Have you got much accumulations? I think Canterbury was set to be the hardest hit?
-
This is great- we (Crawley) have had continuous snow since 9am this morning. It has been settling on things. The car says the temp is 1 degree Celsius. I think if the temperature falls maybe a degree more then it could settle more significantly.
BBC have been perfectly spot on with their forecast and now going for snow till midday tomorrow!!!
Met office widely wrong to the extent they said it was raining whilst we had snow LOL. Unfortunately this is expected from the Met office now (certainly in my case).
