  1. What is seriously going on with the West Midlands missing out on every thunderstorm?

    1. I remember Atlantic 252

      I remember Atlantic 252

was meant to hit later today, still easterly wind here, trough not moved through yet

  2. As usual the East had all the storm action. I think this is on par to be the worst year for storms in the Midlands. I haven't heard a single rumble!

yes, again the east midlands, E England place to be, same with snow, think we are too close to the Atlantic

  3. For storm lovers, the Midlands couldn't have done any worse!

  4. Time to say goodbye to the sun for a while. Miserable cloudy cra* coming our way.

  5. No snow whatsoever here. I hear even London got some snow, yet here we got drizzly cr*p all night.

  6. I am so confused. The Met Office has forecast heavy rain/sleet for most of the night (Warwickshire), but it says "Snow this evening and tonight" in the summary?! All I want is snow :(

  7. I am SO glad I didn't get my hopes up for this snow. None of it forecasted anymore...

Are you crazy?! There's quite a bit of it knocking around today.

Was any snow ever forecast from reliable sources?

  8. I suppose snow is too much to ask for...

  9. Very windy today for the Midlands. I'm surprised the Met Office didn't issue a Wind Warning with all the power-cuts around here.

  10. This month is literally the complete opposite of December 2010. That's not really a bad thing, though it would be nice to have some more sunshine with these very mild temperatures. It is certainly better than the average (6-9C) temperatures, but the downside is that it doesn't feel as festive as it should, and the weather is obviously partially to blame, nevertheless, this December will probably be a widespread record breaker.

  11. It sure felt like a nice spring day this afternoon. This year is very close to being exactly the average year in my area. Temperature only -0.1C below average, rainfall 106% and sunshine 104%.

  12. ZZZ... why can't mother nature bring something of interesting to England (e.g. snow).

  13. November has been one of the gloomiest months I have known, yet one of the mildest autumn months. Wouldn't it be nice to have a mild, sunny month in autumn.

It still is nowhere near 2013/14 levels of awfulness for me.

    3. Richard2901

No it wouldn't. What would be nice is to get a cold, crisp frosty, sunny month in autumn when going outside isn't an ordeal due to the unrelenting vile wind.

Agree Nick. I hate protracted gloomy weather. Another notably sunless month in southern Britain, however, was February 1947...

  14. Hardly any fog this November, unlike most.

  15. Netweather predicting a stormy winter for England next month and snow only in Mid January.

Could also mean a ridiculously mild first third like November then a cold frosty high lasting a long time. Not unusual in December actually.

    3. karyo

I would kill for a nice frosty high in December. With the long nights it can give some impressive surface cold and freezing fog.

    4. Dami

why would you want freezing fog? yuck

  16. Maximum wind gust of 36mph, compared to the forecasted 55mph.

  17. The wind forecast is the biggest failure here. Maximum gust has not even exceeded 40mph yet, and the winds have tracked much further East than forecasted. As for the snow, I didn't expect any anyway.

You got it, not that windy here either, was predicting 60 mph gales last night.

  18. Anyone seen the Netweather snow risk map? It hurts my eyes. http://max.nwstatic.co.uk/newsimages2015/weekly/20151115/fritosat.jpg

      Damn, Bodmin Moor it is.

  19. Hopefully autumn will deliver after a rather boring summer. Everything pretty average except thunderstorms - way below average here (though there is still autumn).

*North Westerlies return though - not welcome.

  22. That was beyond expectations - I went from disappointment to shock within minutes.

  23. Anyone think the West Midlands is in for a good chance of storms?

    1. karyo

      Nope. Just Cumbria and Scotland.

Maybe later. I think storms could break out anywhere down the western half of the country as the day goes on.

Activity reported Hereford area just. This is going to be a busy one.

  24. Such a lovely day - temperature peaked at 30C here - above what was expected, so tommorow may be interesting!

  25. Possible heatwave on the horizon...
