It is a beautiful creature - a Southern Hawker, maybe?

Looks like he/she is doing well and feeding a young family. I wonder if the offspring will inherit any of the leucistic/white feather features.

A photo from this year’s holiday, from a region, Grand Site du Salagou I had not visited previously. 

The rock is a basalt volcanic plug rising from later layers of red clay.

The ruinous castle, Chateau de Malavieille, dating from 13thC and associated settlement, clings to the outcrop and has recently been given special status.
