Yes, urban foxes are said to be more common now than their countryside cousins.

It’s funny you should mention ‘fox’ today. I have lived in rural areas, East Lothian, Angus and Aberdeenshire for the best part of my latter years but have never spotted a live fox in these parts. But when visiting N. Leith, of all places, last week, for friend to take pics of my parents’ old house where she lived for two years or so in the early 70s, a couple of workmen working on a neighbouring property drew our attention to a fine healthy looking fox standing motionless almost within touching distance before scarpering into an adjacent garden.

Why go to the particular "event" then. Perhaps you can start a thread about that.

Well i"m sure you are in good company when it comes to telling off.

I love walking into a nursery or P1/2 and being surrounded  by, or listenng to children's  minds.

It's my day-job - absorbing views of young persons whatever they might be for better or worse.

I can imagine, Chris, and it is not a scenario I would welcome.

Experienced a horrible french holiday in 2003 when the only relief from the heat was sitting in the car with air conditioning on full blast or visiting the chill shelves at the local supermarket..

Hope you, and others, are able to manage the circumstances and keep well.?

Lol. Loving this scottish summer, a real treat, and welcome rain forecast too. With daytime temps fairly consistently around the low to mid twenties, I've been in my comfort (weatherwise) zone for weeks.

  12. Why do cat fleas like me so much?

I've never once (despite just about every family being attacked at one time or another) had nits...So why do the fleas on my cat find me so tasty?

It must be even worse than that, though, as the cat never goes outside my flat...Ergo, I must be carrying the wee buggers in from the outside!:shok:

    Bleurgh!!

You'll need to "hoover" :D your carpets thoroughly to scoop up all the flea eggs. Sounds like your cattie brought them with her/him on arrival.

OON, I don't have sufficient technical knowledge to post on weather related threads - and they can be quite intimidating - but it does not follow that I don't have a layperson's interest with some basic knowledge on the topics.

Nick, I am not arguing for the immediate re- instatement of the "serious" forum - just making the connection between politics and weather.

I'm not against local dialect, but when I hear an applauded presenter providing a wildlife programme to the nation, basic grammar is important....to the children watching.

BTW I am familiar with Doric and other Sottish dialects .

That is not the context I was implying - eg my annoyance is thus (for brevity) "I was sat" for " I was sitting"
