  1. A shame Autumn rarely arrives on the 6th of September and winter rarely arrives on the 6th of December, it must be so boring for mildies as they have the next 7 months to chase high pressure and warmth, winter only started 3 months ago but the chase for cold and snow has long been over, in 3 months time it will still only be June but mildies and joe public never seem get fed up of warmth and high pressure though, i wonder if coldies would get fed up of chasing cold and snow if there was a chance of it for 7-8 months a year
  2. it felt like it was only yesterday when we had that Halloween heatwave, winter came and went so quickly as december felt like an autumn month and February felt like a mixture of autumn, spring and winter the summer months usually feel like summer in the south even though we don't often see temps above 25c, plus september feels like a summer month aswell, march does not feel like a winter month though and it wouldn't surprise me if i didn't see a flake of snow this month
  3. the clocks could easily go forward in the first week of march as it would be getting light at around 8am even in western scotland which isn't really that late, personally i wouldn't mind if we went to BST in early March but i hope the clocks always go back to GMT at the end of October cos i like it getting dark at 4pm in December
  4. felt spring like yesterday afternoon, then thankfully it quickly cooled down at about 4pm and it felt like winter again, i hate spring like weather in feb anyway as we have many many months of mild/warm weather in this country as it is albeit without the wall to wall sun like we had yesterday, its only been just over 3 months since we last had a pleasant mild/warm day here, but joe public make out as if winter goes on and on and on, its only about 10 months till the sun is very weak again
  5. we had 8 months of mild/warm weather last year, its only been chilly/cold and dark for about 3 months, that warm spell we had in october was only just over 3 months ago, who knows we may have to wait at least 10 months till we see snow again, i saw my first snow in 25 months on monday and it only lasted for about 12 hours, imagine if we didn't have a warm sunny day for 25 months, i say warm because its dosen't matter whether its 23c and sunny or 32c and sunny, where as 3c isn't really good enough in winter as it has to be 0c for snow to last on the ground and i haven't seen a single ice day this winter, people only want it to be 30c in summer for statistical reasons, it doesn't actually need to be that hot for people to enjoy summer 23-28c is more than good enough
  6. i hope we never stay on BST in winter because February would feel like a spring month esp if its a mild day as it would be getting dark between 6pm and 7pm, i know the mornings would be darker on BST but at that time of day temps are at or near their lowest anyway
  7. massive upgrade on the 18z for snow and even though this at only T60 im not getting my hopes up yet and im quite far west
  8. if we're being pedantic i's say the light evenings are for 5 months of the year and the dark evenings are for 4 months of the year, the rest are the inbetween months
  9. i doubt joe public would have noticed the change yet, sunset is only about 15 mins later now than it was on the shortest day, obviously if you study the sunrise and sunset times everyday you are going to notice it though, the end of the month is when there is a significant difference in daylight really, the dark cold season is such a short season though, it baffles me why people moan about it, it only felt like yesterday it was still summer now we only a have a few weeks of proper winter left, if it was early july we'd still have over 2 months left where we could realistictly get warm/hot weather, snow in march is probably rarer here than warmth in october
  10. snowing here a bit but only settling on the grass
  11. it really isn't that bad out there, i deliver leaflets in the evenings sometimes its much better to do that now than in summer when its humid and you are sweating buckets, it is a bit awkward doing in the dark though, but its still nice to get out and about rather than just be stuck indoors
  12. it still gets dark before or at about 5pm in Jan anyway, in October it doesn't get dark till at least 6-7pm but people moan about it getting dark "early" its all psychological
  13. bloody typical, temps were 0c earlier in the evening when it was dry, then temps rose and i had rain, now rain has cleared temps are back down to 0c again
  14. in my part of bedford i usually do well for frosts, but totally crap for snow, only got 2 inches last sunday, and all i had tonight was a bit of rain
  15. pretty wet out there now moderate rain falling with the odd bit of sleet, thank god im not out in it
  16. gone from drizzle too light rain game over gonna cry myself too sleep now, i will probably get a dusting in march or april though before its gone by 9am,
  17. don't forget bedford i'd say bedford has been one of the unluckiest places in the region during this cold spell, only got 2 or 3 inches from last sunday
