  1. Umm.... it is a bank holiday weekend right? Did someone forget to given the weather a memo for our usual dose of constant rain for once.

It will probably be back to normal by Spring Bank (i.e the next Bank Holiday)

      There's always next BH! :D

  2. Driving across the A66 in heavy snow was an interesting experience. Certainly beats the rainy Fens I guess.

      Yay! Welcome oop north

  3. Another very warm and humid weekend up here, hopefully the sun will not get blocked out until 8pm like it did today.

On nights so duller the better please :D

  4. This December is turning into a bit of a bloodbath for us who like our winters cold. Actually the term mud bath would be more appropriate in this instance.

  5. Back from Florida, where in two weeks my presence has turned a drought ridden state to one where there was extensive flooding. heh.

I'm expecting California to suffer biblical downpours on my arival in a fortnight !!.

Me too! I so very nearly offered one to him!

  7. Something is going to have to give soon, there is only so long that the model output can go from European wide heatwaves to 2012 re-runs and back again but end up with grey skies and mid to high teen temperatures being the reality.

      Mokidugway

Calm down captain ,PM air as you where !!!

  8. Looks like I am moving up to the fens in a couple of weeks. Hopefully my move will be rewarded with some thunderstorms ;)

  9. A lovely PM north westerly sunny day, minus the sunshine -.-

    1. Eugene

      Eugene

Except we aren't in PM air, the 546 dam line is above scotland

  10. Torrential rain, thunder, lightning, marble sized hail. Took long enough to get our first convective day.

    1. Eugene

      Eugene

      Lovely and cool too

  11. So this cool and very unsettled spell has brought a total of 1 hour of rain this morning (otherwise dry) and temperatures of around 13C. heh......

Only really cold here late Sunday into Monday when we had snow. Yesterday I had a max of 11C which is no different to several days of the "warm" spell when there was a wind off the sea.

Was only going to be wet in your mind Captain, i was mentioning how dry it would be last week, of course not many agreed

  12. Just a normal day in the UK, a dog driving a tractor and crashing it on a motorway. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-32411621

Probably flying around in supercharged v8 Holden Utes !!!.

  13. Much better today without the low cloud and sea breeze, a surprising high of 17C despite temperatures at 6am being -2C with an air frost.

Wide diurnal temp ranges aren't surprising in early April

  14. The north sea has to be one of if not the worst bodies of water in the world. The fact it single handedly produces garbage days like this really sums it up.

To be fair, it can deliver a ton of snow. Once or twice a decade.

  15. Just finished the application for the role of trainee operational meteorologist at the Metoffice. Technically I do have the the qualifications for it (if you count chemistry as a physical science), and a passion for the field. Fingers crossed.

Cheers, to be honest the chances of me getting to the interview stage is probably slimmer than a size 0 model, but it's worth a shot.

About 1cm or so in Burnham and just traveled to Maldon and what snow there was has melted, give me an easterly any day over what we've had this winter!

  20. sunny skies, light winds and 13c. whilst it isn't cold, I can't really complain to be honest

OK who changed the month to March while we weren't looking? Seeing Christmas stuff everywhere with it as mild as it is just doesn't feel right somehow.

    3. lassie23

      lassie23

last year all the christmas stuff in my town center got trashed by the storms! It looked like someone had killed Christmas!

Yet if it was sunny light winds and 13C in mid June loads on here would be complaining

Absolute rubbish weather! probably the worst November/start of December I can remember in terms of dull and wet. Get that cold front in and clear this rubbish asap!

Horrible day here. Worst for many months imho and we've had a few stinkers recently too.

    4. Steve C

I'd actually rather it had chucked it down with rain, than the drizzly dark we've had, with most cars on full beam in early afternoon on normal roads.

  23. First buses, you have the honour of being first to be on my hate list. How can 4 buses in a row fail to turn up!!!!

Transport in London is so overpriced, yet you don't get what you paid for!

  24. Mild mush? Pfft, this was a proper blowtorch of a day. Shame it couldn't last until tomorrow when we could have broken the November record.

What's remarkable is that the very last day was the warmest of the month. That can surely never have happened before in Oct.

    4. Captain Shortwave

      Captain Shortwave

The school kids must have found this week strange, mainly as this week has been on average warmer than most weeks during the summer holiday :p

  25. 20C possible for parts of central/southern England for tomorrow, Tuesday and Friday this week. Quite extraordinary for this time of year.

Yes, CS. North Sea muck is definitely my worst winter type. I definitely get a touch of S.A.D. when the Sun isn't seen for a week.

      Eugene

Friday isn't guaranteed to be sunny away from the far east though, depends on how slow or fast that front moves in, models undecided as of yet
