Some lovely skyscapes this morning! Woke up to pink flashes and a rainbow as the sun rose. Although the storm died in an instant soon after.

Hi everyone. I’ve always wanted to go to the coast to watch a storm roll in, so I drove down to Weymouth for yesterday’s show and it did not dissapoint!

Lots of intra cloud lightning and quiet thunder, must be elevated but some beautiful forks seen on the back edge of these storms.

UKV 15z with a few near misses at the weekend/start of next week, with a few rounds of storms moving east-to-west through the English Channel. As ever with storm potential, lots of uncertainty for the next few days, but perhaps even more so than usual given the position the cut-off low ends up in not being set in stone.
I stopped reading at “moving through the English Channel”

Well it’s just sods law really. We finally got an easterly in winter but we’re missing that one important ingredient that we seem to get every other day of the year - precipitation!
Roll on storm season!

Interesting! I reckon I saw around 10 bolts yesterday, and judging by the posts on here they were all -CG. This was the only one that came out well on camera. Are +CGs rare in the UK?

Just had a storm in North Dorset. Biblical rainfall constant thunder but not much lightning to be seen. I think most of it was intra cloud.

The Somerset cell seems to have back built to the Southern edge somewhat. Dorset might get a look in

Just a heavy downpour here. Had too much cloud cover this morning and the ground just isn’t warm enough to get any proper convection going.

Scotland and Northern England have done well this year so far. Just goes to show how much you can benefit from a few hundred miles of land to the south, rather than a body of water, i.e. The Channel.

Nice, hopefully a double-yolker for Friday!

Lots of very heavy showers this morning but nothing thundery in the south (so far). I’m guessing due to the amount of cloud cover not allowing for ground heating, as opposed to much of the north where it’s been warm and sunny this morning and now storms are developing. Certainly a messy picture on radar! Good luck everyone.

Well what a treat I had yesterday evening! Went out for a walk across the corn fields to enjoy the stunning sky filled with ac-cas. Didn’t really expect to see a thunderstorm but noticed this small CB growing, and minutes later to my surprise it threw out a couple of CGs! The cell collapsed soon after.
