  1. Storms and sharp downpours bubbling over East Anglia currently

    They missed Ipswich. Curses! :(

    Afternoon all

Been a gusty but warm day here, some longer sunny intervals helping there, think we have missed any showers so far today, may nip out quickly as I will not be able to tomorrow morning.

Some sad news, the female Cockatiel died in the night, not the start to the day we wanted :(

Aww, so sorry, Jax . Sad indeed. Poor little thing. :(

  2. HI AllThank you Daniel for your latest analysis which is much appreciated. It is with tearful regret that I report to SE Regionnaires  that Mr Sambuca guinea pig had to be helped to the Rainbow Bridge todayGutted....but at least the weather was good for his last stamd!xxxx

So sorry, PP. I do know how you must feel right now. Hope he's happy now at The Bridge. It's two years nearly since my beloved Oscar died. It's so horrible when we lose our pets. They are family as well. X

  3. There is lot to keep an eye on over the rest of this week with a fast moving flow from the Atlantic meaning we are likely to see short lived convective opportunities but maybe a number of them.

Today the favorable area would appear to be the north and east of Scotland along with the far NE of England that border Scotland. Although CAPE levels are not anything too special, and the risk is a low one, there is some DLS of around 20-30knts to play with and Lightning Wizard are indicating an area around Edinburgh where there could be the odd tornado.

ELT's are ~ -20c too which would promote the risk of some lightning activity and hail in heavier showers, especially later on towards evening.

Estofex covering this area with a 15% lightning risk so do not anticipate much in the way of severe weather, but I still felt it worth a mention.

Tomorrow and Friday pose a more widespread risk across the country. Presently things are looking quite interesting for areas such as the East Midlands, Lincolnshire and especially East Anglia. I will refrain from getting excited though as with such a mobile scenario it is possible that model output today will look different come tomorrow and the risk area will be shifted east onto the continent or not exist at all.

Ooh, I do hope so. Bring it on I say. :D

  4. GFS weather model overview going for thunderstorms throughout the night, in the north, during Thursday night, into Friday morning.... Would like to see a proper day or night of full country activity, despite the chances being minimal.

When I lived in York....I was so jealous of the storms in EA and the general South. My sister was always phoning me about cracking all-nighters in Lowestoft area. Now....I've lived in EA for 13 years and the storms have migrated North. :( Since I've lived here, I think I can count about 3/4 decent storms in all that time. 'Sigh'

Ok, John....but don't leave us for too long. Your weather updates are a big part of our forum. I find them very easy to read and understand. And we appreciate them very much. :)

Very still and quiet evening here, and quite warm but cloudy. Now rain alarm gone off. Tut!

  6. Mornin each. Lovely, sunny start to the day here. Hope it stays like this. Hope you all have a lovely, relaxing, and happy weekend.

Slightly chillyHad a lovely evening at the cricket club helping with the youth coaching tonight, vivid green new season grass, newly painted sightscreens set against darkening skies and a cold north easterly forcing us old parent types to wrap up, huddle together and rely on a few beers/wines to keep us going as the drizzle tried to push us about. It was a joy to see boys and girls of all ages and talents trying their best, loving being outdoors, having fun on a cold Spring evening and all walking back towards the clubhouse happy and glowing, chatting to their friends, embracing the game. So, weather, in summary:Mainly dull.Hopefully nothing controversial in what I've said - with any luck everyone's still awake despite my postings.....Finally, so long and thanks for all the fun.ASAS

Why on Earth should anything you've said here be considered controversial, AS? It's just a nicely painted word picture of a typical English scene. Very nicely described as usual. If people are over sensitive to some posts, that's their problem, not yours. I for one refuse to scrutinise and exam every post before hitting the publish button. If we stick to weather and general chit chat....what's the problem. I may get censored for saying this...but it had to be said as people seem to be constantly apologising for their posts lately. This 'walking on eggshells' is very bad for what has been, up to now, a friendly, happy and vibrant forum.
