So frustrating, listened to it and watched its approach, then arrives in Shrewsbury and only heavy sporadic rain...

Fantastic hour of pure enjoyment for me and many more folk of Shropshire. It's still rumbling on as it leaves Shrewsbury. Best show in years and the deep constant rumbling was great. Must have been good as all the kids rang me and partner sat up to watch it too.

Sat on a campsite in Lymington. Opposite iow..great lightening show but now a new storm heading straight for us and can just about hear thunder..glad I'm in a motorhome and not a tent.

Lovely day of quite placid storms..nice and close and intense rain..I say placid because they were the calm and stillness storms not gusty winds..still very nice and colourful lightening

That was a big fat fail for shrewsbury..it slid south of the town and looks to have collapsed

The river is high in Grassington too..its just breaking its banks onto fields now..what an awesome but frightening sight.

Yay just had first flash and rumble

Ten miles west of shrewsbury between Welshpool and Oswestry. ..its looking good

Why is that the met office forecasts online for regional areas do not show any thunder/lightening it's just rain ?? Having issued a weather warning for violent storms surely they should include it in their forecasts

Well things have changed since this morning..we were the favoured spot here in shropshire. Now it seems that all we can look forward to is thundery rain..my glass is half full so still excited and ready to rumble. If there not coming directly over shrewsbury I will got get them Wind is.picking up here now

Hopefully I've got a great chance tonight of seeing good storms. I've even talked my partner to taking me out in the car tonight whatever the hour to chase if they don't come directly to me. Feeling nervous and anxious but excited to. My friends think I'm such a geek âš¡âš¡

Got family in Grassington 9 miles from.skipton..says storm is brilliant. Hail stones size of 5p. Back here in shrewsbury something looking very interesting at the moment

I can remember late 70s and 80s that yiu would be sitting in the garden in baking heat when you would hear the very distant rumbling of thunder and this went on for an hour or so slowly creeping closer and closer. The sky normally looking to the south towards the long mynd would be getting darker and darker and then after maybe a few hours of that the storm would arrive and would last for hours and then slowly would pass over. They were great storms. Not had one of those for at least 15 years and they were a regular occurrence. So something definitely has changed.

Breeze picked up here in last hour and also temperature and humidity dropped considerably. Drizzle in the air. Come on its really got to go bang

Milky skies here in shrewsbury with the sun starting to burn through. Thought I would post a bit further north as im very optimistic that today will be my day. Hopefully you southerners can blow a few rogue storms towards shropshire later .
