  1. That surprises me, I'm not a million miles away from you and have seen quite a bit of rain, Thursday night, in particular, was horrendous - heavy rain and very strong winds. A bit of rain this morning, but the wind being more of a feature today. It seems the boundary between wet and dry has been pretty consistent and stark since the start of November, with NW England and Wales up half way up Western Scotland bearing the brunt, with locations above and below that line being relatively dry, yet still very dull.
  2. Congratulations, BFTV. 18th place for me, not acceptable for a former champ.
  3. More utterly vile, garbage rain. Strong winds, too. Wearing thin already, and there's potentially months of it to come.
  4. Any links the the November 2015 rainfall map?
  5. I've not really been paying attention to the weather nation-wide, but was under the impression the whole country has been wet - wrong! Much of the Midlands, South and Northern half of Scotland have been at/below average for rainfall. I'm amazed by that, considering how wet it has been for us. Looks like N England, S Scotland and Wales have copped the worst of it all. I've never had SAD before, but this disgusting November has genuinely p****d me off big time.
  6. I, too, would be very surprised if some rainfall records haven't fallen this November. We have been hammered round here, yet no real mention of it on the news. Also very surprised to see Reading at around 50mm and below average, we probably had more than that here today alone. Good riddence to a vile month, hoping December offers a bit more in the way of sunshine and dryness...but not holding my breath.
  7. It's just downright diabolical. The rain has been absolutely relentless seemingly throughout the whole of November. I'm thinking the south must be relatively dry, because this weather is surely newsworthy? I'm intrigued to find out the rainfall and sunshine figures for the month for the UK and our region.
  8. Absolutely horrendous again. Swear-worthy weather today and in truth over most of November. Knew it was coming after that dry October. The weather can't change soon enough for me, and I honestly don't care about temperatures, mild or cold is fine, I just want to see the back of this b*****d rain. Give us a few days off, please. Rant over.
  9. I never thought I'd say it but I agree. Already sick of all this sodden rain!
  10. 81/82 Mild until Christmas? It was one of the coldest Decembers on record wasn't it, with it being particularly severe mid month.
  11. Another day of getting drenched. Awful, truly awful weather yet again. Anyone who enjoys this either works indoors or needs sectioning. Rant over.
  12. I remember it well, Scott. I was camping at the time, and woke up in a pool of sweat. That heatwave really was something.
  13. Anyone know of any weather events/records that share your birthday? This thread has made me look into it - both the 1993 "storm of the century" blizzard and great blizzard of 1888 formed on my birthday. Also, the deepest snow ever recorded was measured in Tamarack, California...11.5 Metres! More recently in the UK, 11/03/2013 was the coldest March day since 1986.
  14. Check out that PV...I bet it was fun in Greenland on that day.
  15. Yeah, it's like expecting 30C+ maxima every day of July. Anyway, I for one can't wait for the "lovely" rain and cloud to do one and the "rubbish" sunshine to accompany the cold.
  16. Anyone else get ever so slightly annoyed when BBC weather reporters refer to maxima as if it's the average temperature? "The temperature so far this November has been around 15C". Actually, it hasn't. The average is around 4C colder than that. Anyone else think it promotes ignorance, in a way? Or is it just me?
  17. Good spot. To put it in to context, how many 8C+ Novembers has there been?Just noticed your link. From what I can tell, there's been 28 Novembers at 8C or above. 2015 is almost certain to be 8C+, so that makes 18 out of 28 of them bunched up within 2/3 years.
  18. Come on Mushy, it's been mild, but the weather has hardly been "nice", has it? I don't know about your location, but mine has seen copious amounts of rain and very little sunshine. All in all very miserable. Whilst some looking for cold may associate anything mild with poor conditions (which obviously isn't always true) the inverse is often seen from those looking for mild when talking about the cold. You, like me, work outdoors, right? Surely you'd occasionally take a cool/cold dry spell over a mild and wet one? I would every time, but my preferences are obviously different. Anyway, some kind of change is looking more certain, with potentially much colder conditions from the weekend onwards. To what extent and how long it lasts is up for debate. Truth be told, I'd take anything drier with a bit of sunshine.
  19. Yeah, in many respects you need to experience one to appreciate the other.
  20. There's very mild, and then there's just ridiculous - those kind of minima in November are the latter. With that being said, I don't think that will come off. What's with this seemingly unprecedented level of mildness?
  21. True. I've always found that link (dark preference = antisocial) tenuous. How does the dark prevent someone socialising/being social?
  22. Don't normally think of March as a dull month, although I guess it is a month prone to extremes, so it can get a lot of almost anything, weather-wise.
