  1. A branch on the tree across the road from me has just gone. I feel slightly drunk, can't believe what I'm seeing!
  2. If it carries on like this we may surpass it. Never thought I'd say that! Without doubt! I know this is a lovely problem to have, but every time I try to take photos of the snow at it's heaviest, it gets even heavier!
  3. Don't want to jinx it, but we are approaching early Jan 2010 territory here...
  4. What a let down...only moderate snow now! Sorry, not rubbing it in. I would spare a cm for the Wirral if I could!
  5. Yeah, Stockport is more like Sapporo at the moment!
  6. Wow, this is amazing now. My front window is better entertainment than my TV! Recent footprints filled in. If this intensity stays for a few more hours it's not going to melt in a hurry!
  7. I hereby rename my humble 2 bed semi "Overlook Hotel"... Can you tell it's snowing here?
  8. Wow, back to "the Shining" style snow now! Now where did I put my axe...?
  9. I'm so glad I'm not in work today, can't imagine the A6 in Stockport being iced over, it's a nightmare at the best of times!
  10. Getting worried now, hasn't snowed for 5 minutes...
  11. Thanks a lot! Looks like it's bad at both ends!
  12. Literally down the road in Davenport. Fellow SK3'er!
  13. Hello to my friends on the wrong side of the Pennines, anyone in Barnsley able to give me a sit-rep? My dad apparently has to get there for work today. Don't think he's got much chance!
  14. Genuinely sorry for all fellow northwesterners who haven't got snow yet, hope some is on the way for you!
  15. Yeah, we seem to do OK in Stockport for snow falling but because we are essentially a huge slab of concrete in the second biggest urban zone in the UK it very rarely actually sticks on all surfaces. Best since Feb 2012??
  16. Stockport looking like a scene from "the Shining". In fact, I'm off work today, I might make myself a cuppa and put it on!
  17. Tell me about it. Someone should tell Stockport council that heated pavements are a waste of taxpayers money!
  18. While I'd much rather see another March 2013, that doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see a similar spell to the one in mid/late March 2012. I love large diurnal ranges so temperatures in the mid/high teens in the day and low single digit/freezing at night would be welcomed by me. There's a saying that March can be winter in the shade, but summer in the sun, and I remember 2012 being like that - it was surprisingly chilly out of the sun. It wasn't all high maxima, either. It only reached around 4C here in thick fog that persisted all day on the 15th, yet it hit the high teens in Gravesend. I guess that's why I love March; it's variability. It can pretty much have any weather you can think of, and at the same time in different parts of the country. It's still the month with the largest range between lowest and highest recorded temperatures in the UK, at 48.4C! If not a cold March, here's to an interesting one, and rest of Spring, too.
  19. I'm hoping for the same as always: a cold March, a changeable April and warm, but not hot, May. Large diurnal ranges and plenty of sunshine would be a bonus. Really don't want a reverse spring, with southerly winds in March and Northerlies in May.
