If it means another repeat of May 1996, summer and autumn 1993 and winter 2009/2010, then I'm all for a repeat of April 2012! :D

    3. Summer of 95

      Summer of 95

We managed more snow on April 4th than at any time this winter...

    4. Richard2901

One of the worst months I can recall. Unrelentingly cold with 26 days of rain and under 100 hours sun. The last 6 months have been a virtual carbon copy of 2011/12 so wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if April and the summer turned out to be a complete write-off.

  5. Apparently its a sunny, spring-like day outside of the North West...

    4. karyo

No chance here as it looks darker and the temperature is a very pleasing 1c :-)

  6. What fantastic weather we've had here the last week or so, sunny by day and frosty at night. Perfecto.

early reports indicated a terrierist attack but was quickly ruled out and some survived namely the dash hounds and people have been advised to avoid takeaways for the next 6 months

    3. Barry12

      why would you avoid takeaways?

  9. Hererra spotted in Stockport today...rumours abound that County have hijacked the deal with United...

United's £29m bid rejected apparently by Athletic Bilbao

      March Blizzard

County have made a £35 million pound bid!

  10. Furnace Creek: 37C and just 3% humidity, that's a dry heat!

really burns the throat humidity so low

    3. Steve C

      Steve C

As long as you could easily drink, it'd be a reasonably comfortable heat. 37C and 100% humidity would be nearly unsurvivable.

I bet it's great for drying the washing, though!

  14. I'm slowly warming to the idea of high pressure next week. March can be glorious when the nights are cold and the days warm.

    1. Eugene

Agreed Marh Blizzard, love cool clear highs this time of year

    2. Eugene

Some are forgetting though that's its still only March and to get true warmth, upper teens you still need a warm southerly flow, fog could be stubborn to shift even in the second week of March, definitely pleasant by the afternoon though

  15. Jay Wynne has just said the 17C maxima next week are "several degrees above average" - try "almost double the average", Mr Wynne.

    1. Evening thunder

      Evening thunder

But technically that would imply maxima of nearly 293c!

There's still time for the pair Snow and Cold to transfer from Eastern Europe to here, although the deadline is fast approaching...will they make their medical?

  19. James Madden - Please forecast a "blowtorch" winter if you are still in business by December...

  20. Quite odd to see much of Alaska so warm. The high in Fairbanks is a balmy 1C on Friday!

    1. cheese

      Very mild right now.

    2. Scorcher

Yes especially inland Alaska, places like Juneau on the coast are often above freezing

  21. Murmansk at -35C...nearing record-breaking territory.

Well on Europa weeks they have to play Sundays. And last week they played on Saturday!

    3. March Blizzard

      March Blizzard

But even in weeks when they aren't playing in Europe they play Sundays 9/10.

I think it was actually due to cut backs in Legal Aid provision meaning some of the least well off couldn't access the justice system.

  25. Can't wait for the -28C temperatures and ice floes promised to us in January...

It will be interesting the to see the spin James Madden puts on things if January is a write off for cold! He should be a politician with his spin doctor abilities http://www.exactaweather.com/UK_Long_Range_Forecast.html

    3. Bobby

"January is then likely to follow suit as an exceptionally cold month (confidence is very high), and could prove to be potentially record-breaking in terms of the cold and snow episodes that are likely to develop. James believes the prolonged cold spell will begin the day before Christmas Eve and continue until mid February - when there is a chance milder conditions will bring some relief."

      Looking shaky...

There's still time for James to salvage his career...
