  1. Poole was ok today, about 5 more feet of beach than yesterday.Always careful. What a great day. Weather may be my passion, but seeing my 1st love Beat Spurs 2-0, always leaves my with a fluffy feeling, COYG
  2. Well looks like the rain has finally cleared here, ended up with 26.5mm of rain, that's 75.6mm for the year to date. Off out now to catch the high tide at Poole/Sandbanks.
  3. Couldn't agree more Iceberg, the Stour at Longham is going to crash over the road without doubt now. It's not listed as a severe warning area, and I think the problem is, that all that live in that area, are being very blasé about it, "it wont happen", "never reaches the houses here", "there is no severe warning" etc etc, well I think there is a very high possibility that it will this time round. I sincerely hope it doesn't! EDIT: Rapodo excepted in that case, I know a couple that live almost opposite and they don't seem concerned at all, they think I'm nuts
  4. Yep, had an inch today, wasn't expecting that, a lot more I think to the NW of Dorset, which is not good for the likes of the Lower stretches of the River Stour. By the time tomorrow is done, could well be looking at in excess of 100mm since the turn of the year.
  5. just passed the 70mm precip for 2014 and it's only 12pm on the 4th day.
  6. Evershot in Dorset has had 46.8mm of rain in last 12 hours according to Beeb weather, crikey,
  7. That was the morning high tide, I believe the afternoon high tide shut the road to sandbanks off. Poole Quay in the morning saw the water splashing over the side, I've personally not seen that before, since I've been down this way anyway.
  8. My roof is badly damaged, got assessor coming out on Monday fingers crossed. Roof leaked and has gone straight through my ceiling, nice hole now, my main concern now is the water tank, don't want that falling through my ceiling. Mother Nature, not much I can do about it, just glad to have insurance, I'll still embrace the weather as the extremes it offer really is my passion/boarder line obsession. Let's face it, there's nout we can do about it, so may as well embrace it. Lashing it down here now, channel radar looks very lively!
  9. Just some of the shots from yesterday at high tide, and an angry looking River Stour 1st thing yesterday.
  10. 12mm of rain since midnight imby. 20mm will easily fall today I'd imagine.
  11. Well I've been down to Sandbanks at the peak high tide and there is no beach left at all, very impressive, the bay road has flooded where the sea has breached the sea wall.I have photo's/vids that I will attempt to upload later. It really blows my mind how stupid some people are. There was a gentleman with 2 young daughters, perhaps 7 & 10 years of age, and he was allowing them to run right at the waters edge by the chain ferry between sandbanks and swanage, and get sprayed by the waves. I could not stand there and let it continue, I stopped my car and told him, that if his children were to slip in, there is a very good chance he wouldn't see them again. to which he replied, "they will be fine", this angered me somewhat, and I told him that even on a good day, if they were to fall in there, just as the tide is about to exit Poole Harbour, they would be gone, and it was completely irresponsible, he reluctantly called them back from the waters edge. Completely unbelievable behavior, he seemed mythed that I stopped to tell him my feelings, but I couldn't have lived with myself had I read a bad story in the paper tomorrow, especially having young kids of my own. Anyway, It's pretty wild out there and really is incredible to watch, just use common sense for crying out loud. Cracking shower passed over a little while ago, hail, Thunder & lightning and torrential rain. Enjoy if you can, stay safe, rant over
  12. No wind to speak of at the moment? 8.5mm of rain since midnight and had 10.7mm yesterday. Certainly can't see 10.30 high tide being an issue in Poole with no wind
  13. Ended up with 25.1mm yesterday, 6.3mm today from overnight showers. Beautiful blue skies currently 8.6C
  14. Nasty Cyclonic, seems to be the general theme across the Region. Friday won't be fun on the coast, flooding inevitable in places
  15. Well pretty wild day today. Had 23.1mm so far today, sea was very rough down at Durly Chine, front row seats eating my New Year's Day dinner at the Harvester, I could happily if sat there all day.
  16. Yes 2.0mm for me today so far. could see some significant totals tomorrow.
  17. Each to there own, but give me snow and cold in the winter months and lots of it please , give me High Pressure, sun and Hot temps in summer, with the odd thunder storm thrown in
  18. Seem to remember the Models having a nightmare when the strat warms like that?
  19. Some serious warming of the Strat being modelled consistently by the GFS of late, the 12z today especially, which always good for cold potential! I've not looked in the Mod thread or Strat thread yet today, but I'd bet my bottom dollar it's been picked up on in there
  20. I'm convinced we had more than that, as it was raining quite hard, but i registered very little for about an hour, happened to be when the rain was horizontal definitely good to have someone local to compare local variables with
  21. I feel your pain ECM, happened too me St.Judes, Luckily the replacements I concreted into the ground have survived so far! Pretty balmy at the moment wind wise.
  22. Winds getting up! Was expecting heavy rain by now, but just an odd shower so far.
  23. Here today gone tomorrow, hoping mid jan onward we can get some decent cold in, now the strat looks like warming, although not a ssw event. Interesting times ahead hopefully, look at the warming at the end of the GFS
