  1. could always hope for south corrections, get some good Lows moving through the Channel, like the good 'ol days, and keep southern England, in the cold easterlies, but then, that may make people mad up north, as it misses them
  2. from this weirdo, who is also from the SW. I'm feeling the ramp mood today. Red Warnings from Met O, next week? I think could be a possibility
  3. The trouble of high risk / high reward is being on the wrong side. Last Sunday, it rained for hours, with the temp stuck at 1c Not expecting anything, so won't end up disappointed
  4. Looks total pantz for the south-west - staying mild longest. Snow really builds up across North-Central-North-East Scotland Low eventually comes south, and brings the cold air with it, some snow coming south, with east winds, most of the snow will of course be over in the East
  5. according to Met Office auto weather, it's 1c, it's nothing but pure rain here, can't even see a hint of sleet in it
  6. early hours of last sunday, when the air was (just) cold enough for a bit of wet snow, the precip band was narrow and fragmented. Of course, this evening, with the temp at 8c, the incoming band, is massively wide, and persistent... back to the soggy land, and a land of drips. The gutters drip a lot outside, and a drain is blocked outside
  7. The 'event' started off pretty good, it was 1c, a little sleet, but then the heavy stuff came, with huge flakes coming down hard, and surfaces turning white very fast. A hole in the precip then arrived... but i could see more coming on the radar. The second batch started as rain, then changed to sleet, and then more big wet flakes. After another break, more precip arrived, and it was 100 percent rain. It got daylight outside, still some kind of "slush" on the rooftops. During the day Sunday, the showers were of rain/hail Nothing to enjoy, unless you enjoyed it, whilst it fell (which i did)
  8. When you look at Sat, some people are tempted to think, that swirl out west is the storm, it's not. That is another low Ireland's Storm is going to develop in the flow. So we'll have a rapidly strengthening storm, with the chance of a sting jet. Developing storms, more dangerous, than mature weakening storms
  9. Yes, it's looking serious. This may have the remnants of TS Kyle with it. Watching this develop is going to be fascinating
  10. phew, something is happening, it's gone from bright sunshine to nearly dark as night, and the wind has really picked up. I'm seeing fast moving clouds from east to west. Nothing over head yet, in terms of thunder
  11. looks like it's time again. Thunder heard, already raining, and turning dark. My AM radio is crazy with Loud sferics
  12. i've been watching distant flashes from that which went through the Bristol Channel, under clear starry skies. It's surreal, but it feels too darn warm
  13. i was thinking, having problems with some of the online lightning map data, i've gone "old-skool" i grabbed my old radio, switched to the AM band, oh my... listen to those sferics !! - brings back old memories
  14. lighting maps must be having some server issues. I could not get to the site from a new tab, and the lightning data seemed to stop for a while, and now the map has gone mental... maybe the backlog coming through, or else these storms are going crazy right now
  15. with the Met Office warnings now going on every day until next Tuesday, never seen it before, one whole week of solid yellow storm warnings. I know many places will still miss them. Well good luck to the storm hunters
  16. Met Office, Amber Warning for parts of Scotland, they seem to be expecting the beefiest action there. Scotland again !! is this last year repeating again
  17. still going here, just been another torrential downpour, and more thunder, it's all around this area, just keeps coming
  18. it's kicked off around here, real loud thunder, just as the rain started. Storms popping off all around Devon, off the coast, towards Irish Sea and South Wales] Lightning all around, and the air is humid as heck
  19. dire winter, just scraped a few flakes in a shower last week, otherwise nothing. some frost last november before winter began two harsh frost nights in January, where frost stayed in shade all day. otherwise mild, wet, windy
  20. we have a sting jet folks ! - Giuseppe Petricca on twitter
  21. awful stuff for a winter that never delivered what is being hinted at the moment. Real snow only for high ground. Maybe sleet or slushy deposits lower down, that even the Met Office mention will quickly melt tomorrow morning Then we're back to wind & rain again... for all. Bring on the Spring now. Had enough
  22. mostly hail showers today, but some wet flakes made it down here, in a shower this afternoon
  23. Fort William 5c heavy rain /ice pellets, with gale force winds all day. Hardly any rest from the showers. Not good for taking photos. The good news, just travel to higher ground and see Shaw. Some good accumulations in places. I am starting to like high ground
  24. regarding public transport getting cancelled under a yellow warning. I think it's because the Met O has named this storm. more media hype drummed up, so some people think there is pretty much a hurricane coming. This coming in a winter, when the Met O has mostly refused to name any low pressure systems
