Ah that was it, I was looking under N for Netweather Radar for the app, yes it is there just as Radar extra.

    V8 Radar

For a while now I've never had a device that has had an option to download it. My preference would be to have it as an app on my Car's android head unit but no matter what browser I've used there's never been a download option. Also if I remember rightly when I was able to download it onto previous devices it just simply opened up a webpage which really didn't seem very app like as you'd have to log in again etc.

Could the android app have more background options? It's the dark grey one I use but it's not available on the app.
  5. I'll just add Aliexpress do a WS2000 clone at a significantly cheaper price (this price also inculdes the VAT), you can also buy the extra sensors. Wireless weather station connect to WiFi, upload data to web (wunderground)|Temperature Instruments| - AliExpress I've just bought one of those, the seller also sold me an extra display unit for £85. I believe the WS2000 isn't actually legal to operate in the UK at 915 MHz whilst the AliExpress version is 433 MHz which is legal here. Tim
  6. Hi, I was out chasing today. I find the best radar app for detail is Netweathers but I had one problem, it was very hard to see where I actually was. I've attached a pic I took whilst pulled over. Can we have a bigger or more noticeable icon, or maybe a flashing dot? Something so when you glance whilst driving it's easy to see where you are. you can kind of see it in the pic but that was zoomed in, from where I was sitting behind the wheel most of the time I couldn't locate the icon. I know it centers but but I would find myself frequently wiggling it around just to check other areas that obviously then leaves it off center so it would be good just to have a more noticeable icon. The smoothing option looks good but the edges of the precip are jagged, can this be fixed? On other software where you write your colour tables this is usually fixed by putting 1 extra line of code in taking the image down zero or whatever reading it might stop at to reduce any radar noise.

It's looking good Paul. Would it be possible in the future to upload our own colour tables? Radar Omega for example now has this feature on it's android app and windows version so it would be good if we could do this as well.
  9. Yeah just use Pivotal weather Models: GFS — Pivotal Weather WWW.PIVOTALWEATHER.COM View GFS weather model forecast map image for 2 m AGL Dew Point in United Kingdom on pivotalweather.com.
  10. Any chance we'd be able to change the map background colour? I was out chasing in the West Country last Tuesday night. NW storm radar is obviously one of the best apps to use but there was one problem. I have a fairly large screen on my phone and the glare of the app with it's light background was a bit distracting whilst driving. I like the map style background because I can see where I am and the road options but can we have an option to change the background colour? Tim
  11. How often has this occurred? Very rarely I suspect. The current UK hotspot being Shetland! It's the very last part of the UK to be fully under the last weeks hot air mass.
  12. I've just noticed that the chaser app chaser location works in the UK. Would it be possible for the Netweather Radar apps to have the option for placefiles or chaser locations (PYKL has it built in) so if we ever have a decent storm day in the UK it would be interesting to see how many people are chasing and also making it easy to network/meet up when out on the roads? Tim
  13. Also at the end of the day December isn't on average the coldest month of the winter nor is June the warmest month of the summer. Therefore neither December or June are mid winter or mid summer!
  14. Hi, Another UK weather site with it's premium package has a chase mode radar that works within your browser so that your location is tracked live with a dot showing your GPS position. To my knowledge I can't see this option with Net Weather Extra, would it be possible to have this feature? Tim
  15. Ok thanks Paul. I've read they are in the process of changing them to dual polarisation http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/water/radarimprovements so I assume once that's done then we should be able to have they same osrt of data that the US does? It would be really good to then be able to have something like PYKL/GR Level 3 for the UK.
  16. Hi, With some software and apps eg PYKL, GR products & WSV3 you can edit the radar reflectivity palette by changing it to a text file then changing the values to suit your own preference for each dB return range. Would it be possible to somehow be able to do this with the Net Weather Storm app? Tim
  17. Ok thanks Paul When you say watch this space is it likely to be ready this summer?
  18. Hi, Would it be possible to have a way of the storm radar app to know if you're a Net Weather Extra subscriber so you can use the extra features within the app itself?
  19. Yeah it would be good if it could. It would basically mean Netweather Extra could do a GRLevel 3 style radar & then maybe Netweather could issue severe storm alerts via social media just like happens in the States if we were to get storms like on the 28th of June 2012 (the one to the Northeast of Birmingham must have had near 4 inch hail at it's peak) again which no doubt will eventually happen again. Hopefully the Met Office will make more information available once the upgrade is completed or someone from Netweather could perhaps speak to them to see if the ball could start rolling for Netweather Extra to get the information?
  20. Yeah I was just trying to work out what the UK's radars could do. The reason I ask as previously I looked into this & read this article http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/olympics/doppler-radar-and-london-2012 It suggests to me ours is fairly advanced, I noticed this bit "Doppler radar not only measured when and how much rain was falling but provided much more detailed information by analysing the change in the frequency of the radar echo caused by the raindrop's motion. This was then used to improve the forecast of the changes in wind speed and direction within a rainstorm." It gives the impression ours could display a base velocity if it can do that if I've understood that correctly (maybe not.) I suppose is also depends on what data they are prepared to give out on the public domain as to whether it could be used or not?
  21. Ok thanks How will it be displayed? As there any possibility in the future it will be able to do hail size like the various radar software programs in the States do?
  22. Hi, We've just had a hail storm move through Bristol. I'm obviously interested as I go storm chasing in the UK to see the precipitation type work. I've logged onto the Netweather Radar and our hail storm seems to be showing as rain? Is there any reason for this & what colour will hail be displayed as? I've attached a pic of the storm that moved through both the precip type one and the normal. Tim
  23. What I'd like is a GPS based one where you have a dot that moves as you travel so basically like the storm chasing apps. Eg something like this http://www.pykl3radar.com/ but for the UK. What would be really good is if it also had an option to log in under a Net-weather extra radar subscription where you get the 5 minute updates. Also a final thing maybe a chaser location app as a separate one which does similar to the USA ones with GRlevel 3 where UK chasers can be pin-pointed by positions when we out chasing.
