  1. Hi andy. Had a bit here in swansea, so cant complain too much , but turned quicky to horrible slush etc.... when do you think the next event will be?? From the forecasts i cant see much more happening in the forseeable.... mild can seemingly be nailed on from 7-10 days yet when it comes to snow its never nailed on until within 2 days lol !! Odds always against here at lower levels and by the sea.
  2. RAIN here it comes..... clearly can see the rain destroying the snow that has built up...most noticeable on car windscreen. HEAVY RAIN PAIN PAIN PAIN. Would say all lying snow will be washed away as quick as it came in the next few hours. Horrible cold damp day now combined with snow melt is just dire. Moving on...... when is the next likely snow event ??
  3. At least your already in the grieving process ..... and are getting over it..... still to come here.....HORACE IS ANGRY!! WHO INVENTED SLEET!
  4. The heavy snow in swansea is confined to altitude only i would say. Nice to see but damn damn and damnit !!! it aint going to last!!!
  5. Snow lying around, but sleet/snow rain mixture at the mo..... just came back in about half hour or so ago.... and a wide variance in snow/sleet/rain after a drive around a good few areas of swansea high and low.......would appear the settling snow line is creeping up and up 100m and rising !! soon to be washed away Chances of it staying all snow event for next 6 hours imby ...... 1/100??? Such fine fine fine margins make it ever so frustrating....yet i suppose its the first real kind of settling snow of the winter...even if very brief ..so at least this winter has produced a semi semi quarter ok an eighth of a snow event from an imby perspective! Whats the news on further snowfall within the next 5 days??
  6. give us some hope Andy !!! I am very pessimistic re saturday and expecting the worst so i can hopefully be pleasantly suprised!!
  7. Slightly further east so far its looking like..... oh well, off to bed and hopefully when i awake in the morning there will be much gloom in the se on the model thread as the front has magically shifted 100 miles west!! 1/12 chance now lol
  8. I Thats better than nothing i suppose.... just hard to take when you get 4 hours of snow, then followed by a slushfest. The front giveth and then taketh away ! . ..... just want it to giveth a little more and taketh away a little less....
  9. Time running out for this front to shift far enough west...... the closer we get to the zero hour... the less it will be forecast to shift. 1/5 chance it will shift far enough west now. 12 hours on and into tomorrow, if still the same as progged from now then chances of a shift far enough west would be a real long shot.... 1/15 perhaps. I have been comparing Dereks last few forecasts and that snowy area definatly has shifted westward ,after only the other day showing just a pure rain event. We need some luck now ! I clutch to the straw of uncertainty that the bbc forecasters in general have been coming out with. Next sets of charts absolutely must show a change PLEASE!!!
  10. Still 48 hour to go...but the closer we get its looking less likely to be a snow fest for wales....regional bbc still forecasting rain event for most of wales .... just a shift further west please!! ... my only hope is , that with these events so hard to forecast the 48 hours still gives us a chance, but i think we need an upgrade TODAY at the latest. 1/6 chance at the momemt id say for general lowland and upto 2-250 metres wales...........roll of a dice chance !
  11. How frustrating ! the cold arrives with and just as quickly as it arrives its going to be blasted away with some wimpy sleet at best , just the same way it came in!! What a complete waste of cold. Snow in africa also just makes me sicker !! damn damn dammit !! Nice to see those images of what was and what could be though.
  12. Battleground battleground battleground!! Of all the atlantic v east battlegrounds in the last 15-30 years or so, where is the most likely place that they occur on average?? Would our area be the most likely place for these events? or perhaps further toward the midlands? If only we could just get some real decent cold and snow longevity, yet our island on the edge of the monstrous atlantic is not condusive to that....... the sahara desert is going to be colder than places in wales at the weekend!! i mean ....... COME ON!!!!!, you must say that that is just not fair!!
  13. Snowing properly here , all be it small and light, but none the less its 100% snow. Wasted though, all wasted as the ground is too wet. No doubt one solitary flake will stick, then the front will have burnt out. Oh well, a flake is a flake and one is better than none!!! I may bottle one of these flakes and freeze it as a reminder of the crap winter of 11/12.
  14. Would be funny if my garden was the only one with settled snow on it in the morning....would look quite bizzarre really. Very localised indeed.
  15. Earlier on i covered the garden with a huge plastic sheet, then, as soon as it is full on snow.. i shall remove it so the snow will stick straight away, to the dry floor. Anyone else done the same?? Mixture of sleet /snow is now.....Sleet20% snow 80% !!!! Come on!!
  16. slowly ever so slowly turning into real good and proper NIX. Rain/sleety/NIX here and i would say 10% rain 50 % sleet 40 %NIX mixture ...improved in last ten mins also!! Hopefully will turn to real NIX in next 2 hours...then start to stick and at least pile up an inch before daybreak. Nix is latin for snow, just incase you know.... Gave the lampost a hug earlier as i felt tad sorry for it having no snow since dec10!
