Looking at the meto vid forecast, this band comes from north - gets to Wales and then tracks south with more showers coming from the south west direction merging. Should be a good day for the South and south east later in the day.

May I ask why we hang our hat so much on the GFS charts, whenever I see excitement in GFS from people I always then see a big let down. Genuine question

It was always going to be pathetic for southern areas from a weak northerly setup!
Have to say, this has been ramped since before Christmas . It has been lovely and cold and snow for some but it has not been a memorable “boom” “would sell my soul” moment at all really has it. I wish that some of the more knowledgeable posters on here would challenge peoples forecasts with insight and knowledge and perhaps calm the kids who just want snow snow snow.

Wow so much panic in here on a weather platform, the press are over cooking the severity of this, it not even as bad a the flu, 82% of cases are experiencing a mild cold, 14% more severe and experts suggest the number of cases reported are likely a 1000 x more. The normal groups of people who have other health issues are most at risk. In comparison over 1 billion people are effected by fly and up to 650,000 a year will die. Why are none of you worried about catching flu as the number of comparison effected are 82k is such a low percentage. Don't get sucked in to the panic. I was in AND Italy this week and there is plenty of food on the shelves and no panic!

So Sandhurst in Berkshire outside the amber zone - East is showing more snow than Basingstoke West for the majority of the day tomorrow - looking at the models there is quite a big band of snow hitting tomorrow 1 that hits early and goes West North West and then another that seems to go NE.

That NCEP update fills me with dread..it will be so so typical if the GFS is right...why why why must there always be problems like this getting cold and snow in the UK.
We spend most of the time reading why we should ignore the GFS so don't worry to much!

Showers from the East Coast are starting to come more inland. Let's hope they pep up!!

Just noticed the meto have brought the warning forward from 6pm tonight. The other night the meto warned of 1cm and we got about 4cm so tonight / tomorrow they say 1-3 so I am hoping for for about 6 or 7cm however they will probably have this one correct this time knowing my luck! Hope it gets interesting!
