  1. 20 years on to the month from the Srebrenica massacre and a Serb wins Wimbledon...how quaint, bet the Beeb didn't mention that!

      Weather-history

So that's who won it. Didn't watch one second of Wimbldeon.

I was being sarcastic...towards the Beeb (who try to be as PC as possible) - but c'mon how many superstar sportsmen come from Serbia? Anyway I enjoyed the Wimbledon final in between all the celebrity spotting between shots - ridiculous!

  2. Well woke up this morning to cloud and some dampness - and surprise surprise a breeze, probably one of the breeziest spring/summers I can remember.

Howling 25mph winds and grey here again, weekend's dreadful this summer.

Are you two on a different continent to me?

Well shuggee - I live near the coast in the SE and some of those days can be attributed to on-shore breezes but certainly quite few aren't. Yep continuous breezes all the time.

  3. agreed! - a sport that basically should be so exciting is pretty average as 'entertainment'. Too many rules and regulations are also ruining it (the safety car coming out was just silly as none of the retired cars were in particularly dangerous areas and read the cars in general are around 6 seconds per circuit slower now than 10 years or so ago!!). Personally I felt the first 16/17 laps yesterday wasn't bad but after that it got a bit sterile again after the Mercedes boys got in front on the basis of pit lane tactics rather than overtaking though Hamilton did try on a couple of occasions early on. Says it all about this season when the press in general call it a 'thriller' this morning...saw the 2003 British GP on Sky the other day and there was a chasm in entertainment.
  4. Yawn! how predictable that Mercedes finish 1st and 2nd again!... well done to Hamilton for winning though but he is driving in the best car so he had a 1 in 2 chance. The only unpredictable thing about today's British GP was the good start the Williams pair had only to be 'overtaken' by the Mercedes tyre change tactics. The weather tried it's best to make things look interesting. Formula 1 needs a complete overhaul...
  5. What poppycock that a thunderstorm clears the air!! - hot and humid here today (in fact the hottest day of the year) 28C a few minutes ago and not surprisingly no onshore breeze.

  6. Thunderstorm shield fully activated for today and tomorrow in the SE - another let down!

  8. Dusty Rhodes?? - not from the 70's 'ITV World of Wrestling' period so means nothing to me! but certainly sad to see Mr Lee and Mr Moody pass away RIP.

  9. Summer breeze makes me feel fine! - no it doesn't!! being a golfer I'm fed up to the back teeth of consistent wind day in day out in varying strengths throughout the spring and early summer - what's going on!?!

  10. Formula 1 is becoming as predictable as the Premiership...only 1 driver has won the title I believe when his car hasn't won the constructors title in the last 14 years and that I believe was Hamilton in the McLaren in 2008. 4 races in and it's at a maximum a 3 horse race for the title and in a few races time probably just between the Mercedes drivers...very boring!
  11. Rubbish weather continues!...days of wind followed by days of grim and drizzle! Yukkk!

    1. Froze were the Days

      Froze were the Days

I should say 5.5c up to 11am :0 then yes into double digits by the afternoon.

    2. Eugene

      Eugene

Yes it is strong Froze, do you really think people would be out dressed in short sleeves if it wasn't, the warmth isn't coming from the airmass thats for sure

    3. Eugene

      Eugene

East midland ukmo forecast for today is warm sunny periods max 9C, proves my point, 9C isn't warm alone

  14. How can there be a change to colder weather in the next few days when the previous umpteen days has been 'chilly'? answers on a post card.

    1. Scorcher

      Scorcher

Certainly not like winter here- it's typical spring weather- cool in the shade, warm in the sun

    2. Dami

      Dami

It turned chilly on Friday for some reason...

Nope not behind the times, been around 8c or so here in Essex for the last 4/5 days bar when the sun briefly came out on Tuesday.

  15. Nice and mild outside and nature has come alive! shame about the constant nagging wind...see Atlantic looks to be dying away in a week or so's time (no surprise).

  16. Bring on spring - the smell of freshly cut grass, the first sight of bumble bee's, the first birds making their nests and the first twinklings in my head of taking my top off revealing my rippling torso and ice white skin...

  17. Green keeper cutting the fairway's yesterday! - that smell of freshly cut grass almost made me think it was spring, until today's chill and gloom brought me back down to earth!

    1. Mokidugway

      Mokidugway

They've been farting around on bowling green near me lol !!..

  18. Once again a pretty poor 'cold spell' which will last no time at all in the memory - last 4 days maxes 6.5, 4.5, 4.0, 5.4. If we're not going to see any 'severe cold' in the next month then dry but boring will suit me fine!

    1. lassie23

      lassie23

it looks as though high pressure will move in and stay forever and bring us an easterly in April

    2. Froze were the Days

      Froze were the Days

As always, March will probably have a warm high over us for a week or so.

    3. Snowy Easterlies

      Snowy Easterlies

nothing marginal about tonight, where's the precipitation though

  19. True! - but not so dry as mentioned over the last decade or so...which gives an indication maybe of recent winters and lack of cold ones.
  20. Looks just the same as today (for tomorrow daylight), I'd be happier with no precipitation.
  21. I could show you many a winter where the Atlantic hasn't lost all strength in February (bit of an old wives tale of the last decade or so) hence so few cold february's. It would be a first this winter if we could get a high pressure cell close to 60 latitude but I have the feeling UKMO might be closer to the outcome (unfortunately).
  22. Looks to be too much activity near Greenland and off the eastern seaboard for high pressure currently to retrogress westwards to any effect for cold (currently/next week).
  23. Yes your right - but why? ppn clearing away almost from Essex now and not far behind eastern kent? so why for snow overnight.
  24. GFS 12z still showing an easterly of sorts for mid next week - hopefully uppers should be cold enough for a bit of showery stuff. I don't understand them either! - why just for Essex?
