  1. Wow! according to Beeb weather presenters we're experiencing a 'bitter' south easterly wind with temps at 6c currently!...hahahahaha!!

i remember when the headline on the London news was that there was wet snow in the capital, wasn't even settling lol, so glorified sleet was top news

I find Schafernaker one of the worst!

I miss Rob McElwee.  He was the best and he never exaggerated.

  2. I wake up and draw back the curtains to be greeted by clear blue skies and the current bun for all to behold...then I find out I haven't really woken up at all! - yes folks we've officially entered the season of 'Muck'!

people should be writing off december in my opinion, looks snowless

Crap winters here no matter what some say in mod thread 🤡

  3. Glad this dreadful month is nearly at a close, can't help feeling that December won't be much different - mild, wet and windy. Another 2013/14 anybody?

Today is at least interesting, but I certainly don't want a rerun of that SWerly airmass we had a few weeks back due to the prominent Euro High. Warm (unseasonably so) but cloudy and drizzlyenough to make you not want to spend time outside in that warmth.

been nice and snowy up here for the last few days :)

I'd happily take winter 2013/2014 over this dull boring month at least.. I'd probably see several times as much sunshine too!!

  4. Rather watch a box set of Panorama than look at the models at the moment...just tediously repetitive!

  5. Get out the barbie for the halloween running!...soak up those southerlies! :(

  6. Models look pretty joyless at present if cold is what your looking for...early days and winter some distance off but is amazing how the synoptics change in an instant from non-Atlantic to Atlantic driven!

Yes but at least those negative atlantic ssts may be a sign of things to come for many year ahead :-)

The impact of changes in solar output is way overestimated on here at times. Changes in solar activity take years to affect temperatures on earth, there is a significant lag effect thanks to the overall heat capacity of the climate system. It is not a quick process.

    4. Costa Del Fal

      Costa Del Fal

Agreed Nick. Some think the impact happens virtually straight away. Even then it can pretty negligle effects.

  7. Over 14 million viewers to watch some baking!...my idea 18 years ago of 'Monkey Tennis' and 'Youth hosteling with Chris Eubank' doesn't seem so stupid now, does it?

Just got back from 'Aunty' - yes they let me in! or should I say my nasty alter ego Mr Coogan, have to say the delightful Miss Jones is really easy on the cornea (or so Steve tells me) dirty bugger!

I watched all episodes and thoroughly enjoy it don't know why but I do so there!..Plus Paul Hollywood looks just like my older brother.

  8. Another month passes and James Madden get's it spot on again...the 'hot and sunny' month has ended! Phew, really couldn't stand much more heat.

Let's hope we get a 'Hot' winter then ;)

  9. Further proof that the buffoons at 'Aunty' have lost the plot! - parting company with the MetO, still James Madden will be waiting in the wings, I can see him fitting in well there...

  10. Another ballsed up forecast for rain in this part of the world (not for the first time this summer) - absolutely zilch! and never looked like it either. Well done MetO/BBC!

      Evening thunder

The MetO/BBC models handled what happened here in east Devon very well. Yesterday they showed my location in the narrow path of the most intense rain with about an inch, and unusually exactly that happened and we had 24.8mm.

    3. Froze were the Days

      Froze were the Days

I'm afraid they did forecast a spell of rain (possibly thundery) - passing through around lunchtime (East Anglia).

    4. Froze were the Days

      Froze were the Days

BBC certainly forecast a spell of rain for yesterday for this part of the world.

  11. Proof that 'aunty has truly gone insane...Songs of Praise will be coming from the 'Jungle' in Calais hosted by Aled Jones at a makeshift church and featuring loads of wannabe illegal immigrants, hopefully if Aled sings loud enough they'll head back!

well France is a civilised country let them stay there clearly they're not really bothered about it

    3. Bristle boy

      Bristle boy

Amazing how the French allow them to travel right up to the northern tip of France, knowing full well destination UK is their goal. If they're illegal in France why dont the French do something about it way way before Calais?

    4. Bottesford

      Bottesford

The UK is far more tolerant than most European countries - something to be proud of. Besides most immigrants coming into Europe go to Germany, Italy and others. The UK takes far smaller numbers than many other EU countries.

  12. NetWeather headline this morning regarding 'becoming more like summer for a few days'!?! - well been warm and summery for quite a few weeks, just that 1/2 week or so towards the end of July wasn't. Notice all the harvesting well under way now.

We should separate the South East from UK weather forecasts as it's not relavant to 80 % of the UK :0..

What you talking about? East Anglia is the I have a problem of the United Kingdom :)

    4. Mokidugway

      Mokidugway

No I,mean we should actually separate :0...

  13. Fancy the forecast being breezy!! - had a calmish morning yesterday only for a breeze in the afternoon. The whole Spring/Summer will be noteworthy for the continuous breeze/wind.

  14. Crikey! a fairly benign day out there, must only be about a 10mph breeze - which is almost unheard of the last few months.

  15. Unbelievable! - BBC has had to apologize on behalf of Peter Alliss, he made a sexist comment about Zach Johnson's putt 'If this goes in his wife (Kim) will get a new kitchen' apparently this caused outrage on social media. What is the world coming too!?!

I agree Froze, it is getting silly. He could have said anything about his wife buying anything, and someone somewhere will find offence because they watch TV just to complain about what others say during live broadcast. Utter nonsense. ps. my wife would love a new kitchen.

    3. AIRMET

      I remember Atlantic 252

heard that, took it as a joke, nothing controversial I'm not happy, in fact I'm quite sad

  16. So far spring/summer 2015 will go down noticeably in my book as a period of sustained breezes and windier episodes. Just had a 33mph gust!

I for one like these breezes this summer has been respectable

  17. Horribly wrong forecast from the MetO for this region today - last night they said mainly cloudy with bits and pieces of rain until early afternoon, well it's been fine and sunny for the last few hours! Incredible too that we have a 15-18mph breeze again!! - still at St Andrews - work that out!

    1. Mokidugway

      Mokidugway

Yes said rain here too ,all I've had though is fudge ....

  18. Horribly wrong forecast from the MetO for this region today - last night they said mainly cloudy with bits and pieces of rain until early afternoon, well it's been fine and sunny for the last few hours!

  19. 20 years on to the month from the Srebrenica massacre and a Serb wins Wimbledon...how quaint, bet the Beeb didn't mention that!

      Froze were the Days

I was being sarcastic...towards the Beeb (who try to be as PC as possible) - but c'mon how many superstar sportsmen come from Serbia? Anyway I enjoyed the Wimbledon final in between all the celebrity spotting between shots - ridiculous!

federer played crap i thought, bit disappointing really

  20. Well woke up this morning to cloud and some dampness - and surprise surprise a breeze, probably one of the breeziest spring/summers I can remember.

    3. Froze were the Days

      Froze were the Days

Well shuggee - I live near the coast in the SE and some of those days can be attributed to on-shore breezes but certainly quite few aren't. Yep continuous breezes all the time.

  21. What poppycock that a thunderstorm clears the air!! - hot and humid here today (in fact the hottest day of the year) 28C a few minutes ago and not surprisingly no onshore breeze.

  22. Thunderstorm shield fully activated for today and tomorrow in the SE - another let down!

    1. fazer76

Apart from one sneaky storm near Brighton lol.

  23. God sake!! - Chris Evans now the 'new' face at Top Gear - won't be watching that anymore. He's slowly taking over the world.

  25. Summer breeze makes me feel fine! - no it doesn't!! being a golfer I'm fed up to the back teeth of consistent wind day in day out in varying strengths throughout the spring and early summer - what's going on!?!
