  1. Agreed Hamilton is defo the better driver, personally fell Nico should be given the boot from Mercedes and Vettel take over the reigns (now that would be interesting). Agreed about the dominant teams...all part and parcel of F1 down the years, but wouldn't it be interesting to have 2 or 3 on a similar footing.
  2. Back to boring racing today, so uneventful. Lewis Hamilton 11 pole positions in 12 races says it all...the Mercedes is in a class of it's own at present.
  3. Further proof that the buffoons at 'Aunty' have lost the plot! - parting company with the MetO, still James Madden will be waiting in the wings, I can see him fitting in well there...

  4. Another ballsed up forecast for rain in this part of the world (not for the first time this summer) - absolutely zilch! and never looked like it either. Well done MetO/BBC!

    1. Evening thunder

      Evening thunder

The MetO/BBC models handled what happened here in east Devon very well. Yesterday they showed my location in the narrow path of the most intense rain with about an inch, and unusually exactly that happened and we had 24.8mm.

      Froze were the Days

I'm afraid they did forecast a spell of rain (possibly thundery) - passing through around lunchtime (East Anglia).

BBC certainly forecast a spell of rain for yesterday for this part of the world.

  5. Proof that 'aunty has truly gone insane...Songs of Praise will be coming from the 'Jungle' in Calais hosted by Aled Jones at a makeshift church and featuring loads of wannabe illegal immigrants, hopefully if Aled sings loud enough they'll head back!

well France is a civilised country let them stay there clearly they're not really bothered about it

    2. Bristle boy

Amazing how the French allow them to travel right up to the northern tip of France, knowing full well destination UK is their goal. If they're illegal in France why dont the French do something about it way way before Calais?

    3. Bottesford

      Bottesford

The UK is far more tolerant than most European countries - something to be proud of. Besides most immigrants coming into Europe go to Germany, Italy and others. The UK takes far smaller numbers than many other EU countries.

  6. NetWeather headline this morning regarding 'becoming more like summer for a few days'!?! - well been warm and summery for quite a few weeks, just that 1/2 week or so towards the end of July wasn't. Notice all the harvesting well under way now.

We should separate the South East from UK weather forecasts as it's not relavant to 80 % of the UK :0..

  7. Fancy the forecast being breezy!! - had a calmish morning yesterday only for a breeze in the afternoon. The whole Spring/Summer will be noteworthy for the continuous breeze/wind.

  8. Crikey! a fairly benign day out there, must only be about a 10mph breeze - which is almost unheard of the last few months.

  9. At last a fairly interesting race! - British GP was ok but this was better, Vettel led from start to finish and quite frankly deserved the win. In my opinion Hamilton was very lucky to extend his win over Rosberg, again started poorly and had a few incidents of his own making - the speed that the Mercedes has over the 'smaller' manufacturers has to be said is quite laughable, twice Hamilton was down to about 10th or so and if there were a few more or so laps remaining would have been again in the top 4. As for the safety car rules after the front wing incident - surely very unfair on the cars in front of Hamilton etc. - why can't they restart the race with approximately the same time intervals between the cars? with the rules that have been introduced over the last few years surely this can be done to some extent?
  10. How do you know that will be the case? the depression is slowly moving eastwards so I'd say anywhere from those red lines eastwards and as the LP moves east they'll be a 'wrap around' with further heavy rainfall.
  11. MetO seem pretty confident of about 1-2 inches late this afternoon and into this evening in the South/East and East Anglia and on dry ground that could cause flooding. Be a big cock up if they get it wrong only 4/5 hours away. Raining steadily now.
  12. Unbelievable! - BBC has had to apologize on behalf of Peter Alliss, he made a sexist comment about Zach Johnson's putt 'If this goes in his wife (Kim) will get a new kitchen' apparently this caused outrage on social media. What is the world coming too!?!

    1. all weather

      all weather

I agree Froze, it is getting silly. He could have said anything about his wife buying anything, and someone somewhere will find offence because they watch TV just to complain about what others say during live broadcast. Utter nonsense. ps. my wife would love a new kitchen.

    2. AIRMET

      AIRMET

People need to lighten up! So what if he made that comment, it was meant as a joke!

  13. So far spring/summer 2015 will go down noticeably in my book as a period of sustained breezes and windier episodes. Just had a 33mph gust!

I for one like these breezes this summer has been respectable

  14. Isn't the record to win a test 410 or something?...so why have Australia batted on for so long? seems pointless.
  15. Horribly wrong forecast from the MetO for this region today - last night they said mainly cloudy with bits and pieces of rain until early afternoon, well it's been fine and sunny for the last few hours! Incredible too that we have a 15-18mph breeze again!! - still at St Andrews - work that out!

    1. Mokidugway

      Mokidugway

Yes said rain here too ,all I've had though is fudge ....

  16. ...especially their commentators who seem to be ex-dopers who now believe a majority (particularly if your British) are taking illegal substances! Froome and Sky team taking a bit of a barracking from a minority of the spectators.
  17. Horribly wrong forecast from the MetO for this region today - last night they said mainly cloudy with bits and pieces of rain until early afternoon, well it's been fine and sunny for the last few hours!

  18. Freak accident in the wet and straight into a huge recovery lifter, RIP fella!...just hope that doesn't mean F1 gets the safety car out even more or maybe even in the case of a possible sighting of a rogue hedgehog crossing the race track.
  19. 20 years on to the month from the Srebrenica massacre and a Serb wins Wimbledon...how quaint, bet the Beeb didn't mention that!

    1. Weather-history

So that's who won it. Didn't watch one second of Wimbldeon.

I was being sarcastic...towards the Beeb (who try to be as PC as possible) - but c'mon how many superstar sportsmen come from Serbia? Anyway I enjoyed the Wimbledon final in between all the celebrity spotting between shots - ridiculous!

  20. Well woke up this morning to cloud and some dampness - and surprise surprise a breeze, probably one of the breeziest spring/summers I can remember.

Howling 25mph winds and grey here again, weekend's dreadful this summer.

    3. Froze were the Days

      Froze were the Days

Well shuggee - I live near the coast in the SE and some of those days can be attributed to on-shore breezes but certainly quite few aren't. Yep continuous breezes all the time.

  21. agreed! - a sport that basically should be so exciting is pretty average as 'entertainment'. Too many rules and regulations are also ruining it (the safety car coming out was just silly as none of the retired cars were in particularly dangerous areas and read the cars in general are around 6 seconds per circuit slower now than 10 years or so ago!!). Personally I felt the first 16/17 laps yesterday wasn't bad but after that it got a bit sterile again after the Mercedes boys got in front on the basis of pit lane tactics rather than overtaking though Hamilton did try on a couple of occasions early on. Says it all about this season when the press in general call it a 'thriller' this morning...saw the 2003 British GP on Sky the other day and there was a chasm in entertainment.
  22. Yawn! how predictable that Mercedes finish 1st and 2nd again!... well done to Hamilton for winning though but he is driving in the best car so he had a 1 in 2 chance. The only unpredictable thing about today's British GP was the good start the Williams pair had only to be 'overtaken' by the Mercedes tyre change tactics. The weather tried it's best to make things look interesting. Formula 1 needs a complete overhaul...
  23. What poppycock that a thunderstorm clears the air!! - hot and humid here today (in fact the hottest day of the year) 28C a few minutes ago and not surprisingly no onshore breeze.

  24. Thunderstorm shield fully activated for today and tomorrow in the SE - another let down!
