  1. I wouldn't take every single change as its going to happen like some do! It changes four times a day. It just leads to a emotional roller-coaster that's pointless. Best to look once a day at same time and see what's happening that it avoids some of the dissapoinment! Personal I'm less concerned about snow which I do enjoy don't get me wrong but about the lack of rain. The summer was very dry and here in eat Yorkshire the rain fall totals have been so low! I can see by mid summer bug shortages on water. We need lots of rain for the next few months really!

I share your frustrations mate, all we've had today is really light stuff that left barely a dusting. Not sure what later tonight and tomorrow will bring. Those bbc new graphics are awful for seeing snow showers. Time will tell I guess.

It's very annoying to see areas to the west of us do better then us when it's coming from the east! My fear is we get a cm or 2 from this and that will be it. Been like 8 years since had any proper snow!

  3. Well although the radar is showing constant snow here in Hull. Apart from a medium shower at 9am nothing is falling out the sky at all. West Yorkshire is getting heavy showers so how come cause the further east the better according to what everyone's said! Anyways loads of time for it change just confuses me how it's missing us in Hull.

I believe some rural towns n villages could be cut off I think even big town hull could be in big trouble anyone else thinking same

We are a city. But yeah hull is  Deffo in the firing line for a lot of snow. I want it to be very snowy but part of me does not as I drive coaches for a living and it will be a nightmare. But I also want to build that snow man with my son. So yeah split feelings but so excited!

  5. This spell looks amazing! just looked at the forecast on here and for hull is says showers from sunday all the way through till next thursday i think it was. All i want is enough to build a snow man with my son whos nine as never seen proper snow. last time we had anything worth mentioning was 2010 and he was to young to remember that.

  6. Can confirm rain/sleet/hail and really not liking the look of the road outside, the laying snow and slush that's left has frozen solid, that 3cm we had last night would be nothing compared with ice rinks causing Hull to be at a standstill if this continues

glad I am day off tomorrow still got to get son to school like which will be fun if it's bad

  7. The shower that just passed over here was actually freezing rain. The temperature was -0.2C while it was falling so we're under an inversion it seems.

Hopefully the next few aren't rain as the last thing we want is the roads being like sheet glass in the morning!

just been watching it very fascinating it's quite rare really for freezing rain to hit us isn't it?
  8. Go to Norway or Sweden or Finland instead as Iceland doesn't always have snow cover in more populous parts in winter.

Yeah there deffo a option as long as it's not to expensive just want to spend some time in a propper cold environment with lots of snow. Will start looking at prices .

  9. yes that was lovely then esp going for walk along beach I'd rather have some milder weather than the rubbish cold rain we've had these last few days

agree completely to be honest I would rather have last year's wind and rain then this promise of cold snowy conditions that fail to materialise . Is so disheartening seeing the met office put out all the warnings for snow then it all disappears. I should of belived my app weather pro because that's been saying pretty consistently that it would not be very cold. I don't know who to belive any more and now am looking forward to spring because I can't stand cold rain! I am also thinking of planning a trip to iceland in the next year as I think that's the only way I will see any proper snow.

  10. Well as my local area as already seen quite a few frosts (more then last year already) I am very excited to see what winter as in store,! no snow yet but as we are only in the 3rd week of December that's nothing to worry about as there's still 3 FULL MONTHS left yet where we can easy see snow. So any posts writing off winter when it as only just started is just silly and only intended to wind people up imo! Well it certainly ain't working with me and I know as well as many others do nature will do what it will do but my personal feeling is we will get a very cold blocked snowey January and February.

  11. Yep total let down - as usual!!!

    I was up at 2am, 5:30am and 7am and nothing :(

As far as i could see, the radar showed most showers moving west to east, not south east so I dont think we got the northerly element.

BBC made it sound like we'd see snow, so id like to know what went wrong.

VERY dissapointed this morning. Thats it now I think for a while. ECM is still poor so no more real cold air this week....

what went wrong was you belived what the BBC said! You would of been better of reading a few of the forums about the snow chance. It was only ever forecast to be marginal at best if you saw any showers! Don't worry it's only the beginning of winter there will be lots more chances for disappointment. Myself I don't belive will see any decent snow untill after Christmas here in the Yorkshire unless you are of a decent elevation or are nearer the north.
  12. ok so my 99m is starting to not look so bad lol, im just keeping a open mind, our weather is ridiculously unpredictable.  :unknw: lol

yeah very unpredictable that's why it's so interesting and exciting! I don't think here in hull we will get anything untill we get a good easterly or northeasterly as that's usually the only time we see decent snow.
  13. I do hope so as a snow starved Kentish man I will be looking forward even more to my journey up north to see spurs on Feb 1St surely better chance of seeing some of the white stuff in Hull than down south here?:-)

I live in Hull and I hate to tell you but your more likely to get snow where you are. We hardly ever get snow here because we are at sea level and postioned very badly for snow . Last year when most of the country had feet of snow the most we got was a few inches at best. What the models are showing at the moment certainly would not bring any snow to hull as it looks marginal and we need no marginality at all for us to see any laying snow.
