  1. Here’s a few screen grabs from a video I took yesterday. I’ll post the videos at some point…
  2. Fairly heavy little storm passing through Central London right now. Thunder every 30 seconds or so…
  3. Storms developing over the eastern coast of Northern Ireland now. Also, possible development between Birmingham and the Welsh border. EDIT: Looking south now: And looking east:
  4. Much to my surprise, the sky has changed from clear to very convective in the last 30 minutes!
  5. Satellite showing cloud developing in Cardigan Bay, north of Swansea and North Devon. Could be the next area to watch.
  6. SIGWX charts for later today are showing that the cloud tops of any Cb that forms could be as high as FL400 (40,000ft). Very impressive!
  7. Great photo, and the sferic detected coincides perfectly with the below echo at 00:55…
  8. A nice view of that single cell heading towards the Channel Islands from this webcam in Jersey: https://www.webcamtaxi.com/en/england/jersey/panoramaguesthouse-st-aubins-bay.html
  9. Storms developing over northwestern France. Interestingly, the majority of models did not forecast any developments here, and those that did, didn’t show developments until much later. Don’t follow the models too literally. As with any ‘plume’ setup, nowcasting is the best way…
  10. New convection but doesn’t seem to be lasting long:
  11. Fresh convection going up in the stuff moving across the Irish Sea. Remaining hopeful…
  12. Some superb cloudscapes today, since the fog has cleared. I currently have a good view of the cell between Manchester and Preston. The cell to the south of Liverpool seems to be following the same pattern. Beginning to tower very high now so would expect some lightning very soon.
  13. Clouds are beginning to tower over West Wales, according to the satellite. The first precipitation showing just southeast of Anglesey too. Maybe the start of today's storms over that way.
  14. Very impressive to see the sheer size of these storms as they develop some 75-80 miles away.
  15. A nice big flash of lightning and loud thunder around 20:00 this evening, as the last of the frontal rain and hail came through and gave way to some embedded convection. First of the year (and hopefully not the last)!
  16. On our 10th flash of lightning and loud thunder here now. Interesting to have thunderstorms on Christmas Eve when only a fortnight ago we were talking about a potential white Christmas
  17. Just had a really nasty storm over us for the last hour or so with mostly +CG strikes which were absolutely terrifying! I’ll try to post some videos in the morning.
  18. We had a couple of flashes of lightning last night during those hail and snow showers. Not too much excitement but a good start to the year
  19. One photo I took of the storm early yesterday at around 2am.
  20. Don’t be fooled by lightning detectors. Currently sat watching the cells to the east of here and lightning is at least every two seconds.
  21. Stormy looking skies to the south of here. One flash of lightning earlier.
  22. A line from Anglesey to Milton Keynes certainly the area to watch now.
