Remember 3-4 days ago we were expecting 5-10cm quite widely at low levels.

I had never been expecting, only seen it stay on the ground in my neck in the woods in deep entrenched cold periods. T shirt weather this

Met warning text:
"An area of low pressure will move across the UK on Thursday and Friday with snow developing across Wales and central England early on Thursday morning. This is expected to move slowly north during the day, becoming slow-moving across north Wales, northern England, Northern Ireland and southern Scotland during the afternoon and evening before slowly clearing southeast on Friday. Snow will likely turn to sleet or rain at times at lower elevations, especially in the south of the warning area, as well as near eastern coasts. At low levels including major cities such as Manchester, Liverpool and Newcastle accumulations are expected to be limited with a small chance of 2-5 cm falling. However, significant snow accumulations are possible over hills of northern England (including populated areas of South and West Yorkshire), Northern Ireland and southern Scotland. Here, 10-15 cm is expected quite widely above 100 metres, with a chance that 25-40 cm could fall in some places . Additionally, there is potential for strong winds, which may lead to blizzard conditions and drifting of lying snow. Ice is likely to develop widely on Friday night as this system clears away."
honestly I take that. I've seen worse. of course accumulations in cities are likely to be limited to an extent due to the heat island effect. Never seen them reference that specifically before though.
Evaporative cooling is also being underestimated.
I’ve not seen anything over 1cm since 2010 so would be happy with 2-5cm

Looking forward to a brief warm up, I hate mild weather in winter but I can’t flush my toilet or fill my kettle at work. How do you unfreeze pipes

Pipes have frozen at work, no brews for me today

Don’t have a weather station to check temperature but on my scale it’s currently Chilly.

Wouldn’t dream of riding in this, what bike have you got?

Looks that way to my beady eyes. A brief mild spell looks inescapable really but I suppose we cannot expect it to be frozen like it is right through until March. The mild blip does look like being batted away rather swiftly though thankfully.
I’m just glad I haven’t seen the “March can be our coldest month” posts

-3`ºC here but very cloudy... Are we in chance with any more snow at all?
TWO forecast says snow tomorrow morning, no idea if that's just guessing. Beeb, Netweather & METO says different...
MetO’s maps back this up for overnight, just random showers by the looks of it though.

You can actually feel the super cool frog droplets falling now outside. Tjhey are freezing on impact and the layer of rime ice is increasing. The only problem is the freezing process is exothermic so temp is rising very slowly, currently -0.9.
Just read tight isobars post in the mad thread and then this, both quite poetic.
