  1. Woke up to this just now, not much but more than expected. Can at least say 2 days of snow for this grotty winter now.
  2. Excuse Mr Spider on the camera but quite a wintery scene out there - nice to have some end product to the cold spell albeit quite temporary in all probability.
  3. Judging by reports I must be quite close to the boundary but still snowing here.
  4. Back garden a few mins ago - always nice to see the first snow of the year. 20231202234319.mp4
  5. DP finally gone above 0c and immediately any precipitation has turned more of a wet variety and expect a steady thaw of lying snow to set in but overall a lot better than expected.
  6. Snowing with quite large flakes and sticking on all surfaces for now which in itself is a bonus I didn’t expect. Suspect only very temporary feature though as slightly milder air is filtering in from the West.
  7. Looking across the models as a whole I see the main risk of any significant accumulations being Derbyshire hills/South Yorkshire ( perhaps N Midlands) with at least a degree of altitude and then later on during Boxing Day perhaps (although less likely) across higher regions of Central Southern areas say Salisbury Plain. The rest I either see as too marginal or insufficient precipitation to get overly excited about. Hope I’m wrong though!
  8. Just looked out and has turned to snow and is trying to stick now that it has got heavier. Temp has gone up marginally but dp still just on freezing for now.
  9. That will do for starters in autumn, hopefully the winter main course is even better.
  10. Yes still snowing heavily at the moment but the main area is starting to slip away SE as the low starts to move away. Great start to winter though.
  11. First snow of the year in Wolves - always a special moment.
  12. Yes, direct hit on Lower Penn, had 9mm of rain in 15 mins, quite a few flashes of lightning as well. Back lawn has puddles all over it.
  13. Just looked at the radar for the last few hours and realised that we have been quite lucky, the band is around 20 miles North to South, still falling steadily as I write but does look a bit weaker today - for the moment at least.
  14. See the Beast from the East has finally arrived..
  15. Just had our first heavier shower which has left a sugar coated cover, hopefully more to come as seem to be just about in the firing line at the moment. The shower we just had did show they can still have some significant intensity this far West which is good news for all.
  16. Agreed location of streamers not worth worrying about but falling as rain where they do may be.
