  1. Absolute crap if I’m honest today. It’s been humid and muggy for days and all we got was just overcast skies and what seemed like frontal rain, Rubbish.
  2. A brief Storm passed over about 2 hours ago, looked lovely with the early morning twilight. First rain here for over a month I think. I have a feeling it’s going to be a memorable day!
  3. Unbelievable to think this thread started sixteen years ago and it may finally be over, have to wait for official confirmation of course!
  4. Storm over north Leeds this afternoon was incredible. I saw the funnel up close but I was at work and didn’t have my phone on me at the time, bloody typical!
  5. 2018 was my personal favourite, a season that had it all. It started very cold of course In March with deep snow and freezing temperatures. April was then a transitional month with a cold start and a hot end (with a thunderstorm). May was an all time great month for sun and warmth. 2011 would be up there too because the April was basically a summer month in spring. I have no recollection of March that year whatsoever though. I personally enjoyed April 2021, even though it was notably cold the sun still felt warm and there was plenty of it. The May was a complete shocker but we did have some decent storms. 2020 I had the best tan I have ever had in the UK (for obvious reasons!) 2013 was interesting from a weather point of view but the cold and dullness got so tiresome. The growth was so late that year that the landscape was still a winter wasteland going well into May. I’d probably say my least favourite was 2012, the warmth came way too early at the end of March. That led onto April being cold and a complete washout which we were stuck with all summer.
  6. The cold spell in December was memorable for the depth of the cold and frosts. It was also at the time of year when I most appreciate weather like that. To a lesser extent the January cold spell was memorable too for the notably low minima. February was one of the dreariest weather months I can recall, a complete nothing month. The first snowfall I saw was the first week of March, the latest I can remember. Indeed the March spell was the snowiest period all “winter”. I’d give the winter a 5/10. Notable for the complete lack of any storms.
  7. The last shower has left it whiteover again here, didn’t expect that. I’ve now seen more snow in the past week than the last 2 winters combined. A memorable month so far.
  8. I remember snow showers in the first week but also lots of sunny weather. The heaviest snowfall came on a Sunday (think it was the second week). It left a decent covering but nowhere near as much as ‘13, ‘18 or last Friday. It was a decent winter for cold and snow 2005/2006, seemed mostly cold throughout starting with the cold spell in November.
  9. The 4 mile walk to work at 5am this morning certainly was a challenge however the quietness was beautiful. Probably the most I can remember after March 2013 and 2018. The sun felt warm today which did a job on a lot of the snow. Unfortunately untreated surfaces are absolutely lethal already.
  10. Been snowing since around 1230 yesterday, grass is completely covered but the roads are still completely untouched. Tonight will be a big test when the temperatures drop.
  11. Ground damp from last nights showers, much colder than previous nights. Currently 2C with a stiff breeze
  12. This will be the first winter I can remember in my area where we have had absolutely no falling snow. 2013-14 came close but we had a day in February with snow showers. This February has also been the single most boring month for weather imaginable. Odd windy day here and there but apart from that nothing. Role on spring!
  13. This February will slot in if it carries on being as boring as it has been
  14. Absolutely wild here (Leeds Bradford airport) worst than many of previous years “named storms”.
  15. January - 2020, absolute borefest February - 2022, wet and miserable (storm was memorable though) March - 2020, wasn’t sure of this but apart from the end I remember the weather was as depressing as the news April - 2012, Snow made it interesting but like warmth at this time of year not wet and cold May - 2013, was so sick of it being cold by this point, even if the month on its own wasn’t that bad. 2021 similar but a memorable thunderstorm saves that. June - 2012, washout, low pressure every weekend July - 2008,, dull wet and cool August - 2008, carried on from July September - 2012, again on its own not the worst but after such a wet summer the last thing we needed was this October - 2020, wet and miserable November - 2015, way too mild and unsettled December - 2016, worse than 2015 because it wasn’t as interesting but still wet and mild (2018 a close second)
