Hello! Yes I'm a Winter Season visitor too, lol! No, this i's the thing, I don't think I can recall seeing a snow event creep towards us day by day from 7-10d out so just thought I'd ask to see if anyone could give a time where it did happen! I've often heard that some of the best snow comes from last minute pop-up events! And yes I agree to snow bringing out the child in you - I had so many snow days off school in the 80''s so it's psychologically linked to the excitement of that I think, lol! Well of my 5yrs of watching here, this season has definitely started off the best so far so fingers crossed this one is better that the last dismal few!!x

I've been following this forum for 5yrs (still know little but enough to know what to look for!) I was wondering if there had ever been a time where a snowy set up has been spotted say, 10 days (or even 7?!) away and literally got closer day by day and actually happened?! Alternatively, what's the shortest notice people have seen to a decent snow event? I started on here in Winter 2011 in the hope I could see a repeat of 2010 (lol!) and have seen many snow events chased and not happened so wondered if anyone else could answer the above questions, genuinely interested?! Ta!!

This is actually just outside my borough but you're probably right, they're just trying to give it away due to excess storage, lol! And yes Mark Wheeler I agree, this snow-murdering stuff was really annoying as a kid, hehe, x

This is what gets me - it's always pushed back to 10+ days, so frustrating!! However the Met are saying this..... UK Outlook for Tuesday 29 Nov 2016 to Tuesday 13 Dec 2016: There is considerable uncertainty for this period. The strongest signal however is for a continuation of unsettled weather in the south, with drier and more settled conditions in the north. Further spells of rain are therefore more likely in the south, with the risk of snow on the leading edge of any rain bands. Does that last sentence hint at potential snow down here?! Either way the Northern Hemisphere does seem a lot more primed this year than in previous years but I still wonder what we'll be saying come March, either "It's been so exciting watching this great winter evolve since November!" or "November started with such amazing charts and promise but it's such a shame it didn't happen or (enter ruining change) happened!" Lol, let's see!!xx

Interesting indeed!! MOD experts hinting that all that mild air going straight up through/slightly to the west of us will go over scandium too! Yet more interesting model watching to come me thinks!!x

Well the BBC weather for the week ahead are hinting at an Easterly for beginning of next week!!! Not like them to mention things without some support.... The Met outlook updates from last week also hinted about there being a northwest/southeast divide with us staying on the colder side....fingers crossed!!!!x

Love this little anecdote!!! However it can also go the other way too - I remember forecasts say Xcm overnight and the next morning would have loads deeper!!x

REALLY hope we get SOME snow out of this spell....it just always seems to be modelled at around 120h but never get any nearer!!! This time last week there was potential for today, then Thurs then the weekend etc and now it's potentially Monday..... I'm keeping the faith that the cold is here and some random fronts could pop up and surprise us!!x

Being a Mum if 3 youngsters I rarely go out of an evening but I am tonight..... of all nights!!! So....The mood in the mod thread has cheered up a bit and things seem to have taken a turn again - am I the only one who didn't freak at recent downgrades cos despite my limited knowledge, I do know that the charts can flip rapidly in these situations?! So what's everyone's ideas on snow potential for Thurs? Next weekend is looking good too but then I was saying that last weekend!! I just hope we see this current trend move forward each day rather than staying on the day it is or worse, edging a day further away each run!! Whatever happens, another interesting week ahead - and cold too!!!xxx

I'm glad of getting the cold in and know that we might need a few days of it to entrench and maybe a second bite of the cherry later on but currently I don't see snow for us southerners next week....However I'm also aware of pop up snow events and things changing very quickly and as long as it's all still heading for cold then I guess anything can happen!!!x

That's bloody hilarious!!! I would love to see this kind of enthusiasm on the BBC! I'd love them to do this just ONCE to see the British reaction hahaha!!x
