  1. This Autumns been rather uneventful for wind storms so far down here hasn't it.

    1. lassie23

as eventful as an england friendly

  2. Had a load of hot air balloons come down and fly over the area this morning.

    1. Styx

      ..always a great sight

  3. Another Day Of heavy showers and thunder here although unusually late in the day this time.

  4. Really strange this morning, felt a lot like autumn all of a sudden.:cc_confused:

Have I just traveled forward in time by a few months overnight?

    1. lassie23

      be snowing soon

  5. Some nice US style anvil crawler lightning last night.

That was a pleasant surprise, never seen that lightning type before in person.

  6. I hope this next coming thundery spell on Tuesday, Wednesday actually finally delivers here.

    Not counting on it though!

personally I can't see it. It'll be confined to the east/southeast I think. Thunderstorms are pretty rare where I live anyway.

  7. Yesterday evening Forecasts wen't as expected then.

    No storms round here.:sorry:

  8. Not liking the look of the latest convective forecasts.

Looks very isolated and nowhere near as widespread as it looked a few days ago!:sorry:

In spite of having a yellow met office warning for storms and heavy rain tomorrow and Friday in our area (Yorkshire Coast) I reckon I will still be in the 'No Storms 2017' club on Saturday morning. I will happily post eating humble pie if I am proved wrong.

I said the other day that there was about as much chance of widespread thunderstorms as there was of a british woman winning wimbledon lol

  9. I wasn't expecting much down here but at least a few rumbles from this breakdown as we have just had quite a few days of 30 degrees celsius temperatures. Goes to show temperatures aren't really that important for storms as we have had better in autumn or winter!:sorry:

  10. Hoping we will get something thundery tomorrow night, thursday morning but its all looking mostly North at the moment!

  11. Some mid level cloud here at the moment blocking the sun, an odd patch thats just formed by the looks of it.

    1. chrisbell-nottheweatherman

Just some cumulus and stratocumulus here at present.

  12. Guess thats it now for thunderstorms for a while looking at the latest atlantic driven outlook.

Wind may be of interest next week though!

Can't grumble too much after last weekend. Not that I'd say no to more.

    2. ajpoolshark

i disagree, post frontal airmasses from atlantic systems give the most convective conditions.....you wont get the severest storms, but they are more plentiful

  13. Lovely Lightning display last night from 12:00AM to 4:00AM. Nothing Nasty with not much cloud-ground lightning but frequent elevated intra-cloud lightning!

  14. Have heard a few rumbles of thunder to my southwest now.

  15. Losing hope for thunder here now as there is no lightning showing up on the radars from the southwest as there was a few hours ago.

Guess thats it for storms here now this summer unless we get a surprise tonight.

  16. Hope we finally get our promised thunder this evening and tonight from that group of storms coming up from the southwest off the coast!

  17. Probably one of the most downgraded thundery spells I have ever known here, didn't even get one rumble of thunder out of it!

The Summer period just seems to be a boring pointless period these days with nowhere near the amount of thunder we used to get.

Seems like the only interesting time of year now is the Autumn and Winter where we get strong winds and gales.

Thats not what I had seen on Monday nights forecast.:cc_confused:

Some of the storms were even suppose to be quite intense. Wires crossed I think with this period.

It was never really much of a thundery breakdown to be honest, not within the reliable timeframe anyway. From my view it was always a band of showery and occasionally heavy rain, with the odd rumble of thunder.

The biggest plume downgrade I've ever seen was when that hot spell in late August 2008 was downgraded to an Azores High Ridge over the UK with anticyclonic gloom!

  18. Definitely been more usual windy weather this year so far with gusts mostly in 25-38mph range. We managed 46mph in November but that was from a shower which probably had nothing to do with the low that we had.

  19. Very odd that Hurricane Patricia has strengthened so much within the space of a day!

  20. Apart From A few Rumbles one day and a frequent lightning storm sometime in July this year has probably been the most thunder-less I have known for here at least so far.

      did you change your username?

    4. wimblettben

Not my username, but I had to redo the password as its been so long since I was last on that I couldn't remember!

  21. 63mph gust on the house last night! Beats my previous record set last year of 58mph from the October storm.

    1. Eugene

Yes thrilling night, you aren't a real weather fan if you don't appreciate nature's fury, more please, i've become a storm addict now

  22. Actually had some sleety snow here this morning!

  23. Had a 47mph gust on the house this afternoon. Wasn't expecting that!

Yes, ended up being the same strength as the storms over christmas so i'm happy about that.

    3. stratty

...didn't you say there wasn't going to be a storm?!

    4. wimblettben

No, just that it wasn't going to effect us that much down here.

  24. Bit confused, going by the forecast tomorrows storm will be no different then any other one we have had this whole Winter.

Its pretty ridiculous though that the track has changed so much in less then a day. I mean, its not even going to be like the storm we had over the weeken if current models come true!

    3. kate1

I do understand your enthusiasm for storms and shared it at the beginning of winter - but now I've had too much of a good thing! am bored of replacing damaged fencing ...

    4. wimblettben

Well of course it will be inconvenient, but I wanted a storm at least comparable to the christmas one to finish this unsettled weather off.

  25. Even I'm getting a bit annoyed with this weather now. If we are going to keep missing out on the oppertunity of a proper wind storm again from this type of set up then at least dry up!

Its obvious we wont get any decent HP dominated cold now so this colder than average based atlantic weather is better than that, at least some places are in with a risk of something wintry mid week, no chance of that with HP moving over us from the south

I would very happily take a Bartlett right now. The current serious situation is going to be made even worse this coming week. Sod the cold, I just want dry.

    4. Milhouse

So pleasant here today. Sparkling sunshine and mild in light winds. dont know why some would want it colder.
