  1. Wonder how long the web cam will last? ....if it blows! for example http://www.jonfr.com/volcano/ Quote " The caldera is filled with 700 meter thick ice so an eruption in it would be extremely bad"
  2. I love seeing the transition to winter on that cam, and the icebreaker looks cool parked up. Ramps things up nice and early for me in the Autumn and sort of says "look what you may get some of later on" http://longyearbyen.borealiswebcam360.com/ download a snapshot and compare in months time! http://sveaspitzbergen.livecam360.com/flash/main.php http://livecam360.com/
  3. 24 hPa per 24 hours = bomb, 42 in a lot less = like you say Absolute bomb! anyone can take any cat 2 hurricane and play top trumps to see if this is serious for example 960 hpa and 100mph 3 dead http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Gustav_(2002)
  4. He needs to start a Estonian thread because Google translate is not quite up to scratch! It does work well for the Scottish regional discussions though
  5. looking a lot more wintry in europe now, and those snow cover anomalies mostly blue below red , looks interesting as I can not find a similar match, for the date in previous years , maybe its showing there is plenty of cold about to throw around.
  6. Snow news here but Low latitude based Texas is still having a large serving of winter weather its very cold for that area. http://wtvr.com/2013/11/24/deadly-storm-extends-to-texas-east-coast-in-its-sights/
  7. so BASICALLY we need the weather to give the charts a Killer Poke (8 bit cheat) in the right direction. loved playing boulder dash on the acorn electron! hope this winter does not drop a rock on our heads!
  8. Just for a bit of fun not super accurate Saturday Sunday 310miles=20 pixels 1 pixel= 15.5 miles dover to calais 30 miles http://www.vedur.is/hafis/tilkynningar/ !!
  9. well that a decent positive! http://www.snow-forecast.com/maps/dynamic/usa?over=none&symbols=snow&type=snow.next3days http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/snow-ice-targets-albuquerque-o/20260411 http://www.wunderground.com/weather-forecast/US/TX/Amarillo.html?MR=1 wonder how long before the reds go from over europe...they never stay the same for more than a couple of weeks. this picture will change!
  10. change the year in the links 1999 though to 2013 http://www.natice.noaa.gov/pub/ims/ims_gif/ARCHIVE/EuAsia/1999/ to 2013 http://www.natice.noaa.gov/pub/ims/ims_gif/ARCHIVE/NHem/1997/ http://www.natice.noaa.gov/pub/ims/ims_gif/ARCHIVE/USA/1998/ http://www.natice.noaa.gov/pub/ims/ims_gif/ARCHIVE/AK/1998/
  11. Weather permitting wed 20/11/13 to find ison look to the south east about 5.45am to 6-15am after which the sky gets too bright ,much before and its in the low murkiness or has not risen. Near the horizon there is mercury and slightly higher up the bight star Spica. Look halfway between the two, and a tiny bit to the ground , and there is C/2012 S1 ISON There was a cloud in the way yesterday hope to do better today! http://www.stellarium.org/ http://www.wikihow.com/Add-Comet-ISON-to-Stellarium
  12. hope it does, it does look closer than any other chart I've seen.
  13. http://www.yr.no/sted/Canada/Alberta/Calgary/time_for_time_detaljert.html bit nippy! -14max tuesday the 24 hours of snow then finishes.....and it gets colder!
  14. I for one will keep staring down that barrel till February if needed! there is bound to be interesting extreme weather to follow at some stage and there is such a buzz on the forums here when it happens.
  15. Was just adding to the strange match list, what it does with it next will be the interesting bit. will it stay in nappies!
  16. wish it would http://www.snow-forecast.com/maps/dynamic/scand?over=none&symbols=snow&type=snow.next3days Because it was a real surprise to see the chart so closely matching 2010 apart from that. http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/77585-snow-and-ice-in-the-northern-hemisphere-201314/page-42#entry2834124 2010 took a very large Negative like the one we have now and before long turned it to this http://climate.rutgers.edu/snowcover/chart_daily.php?ui_year=2010&ui_day=331&ui_set=2 So its a really big ask of this season but is it man enough (not scientific I know) to match up in two weeks time. I guess it will do its own thing.
  17. Need to get things pointing in the right direction Scandinavia does look to start to bring the arrow lower! http://www.snow-forecast.com/maps/dynamic/scand?over=none&symbols=snow&type=snow.next3to6days
  18. Thanks for that 2013's chart looks like its 2010's colder brother to my untrained eye, Some snow streamers would again be the icing on the cake if we get it again here.
  19. Would love to see them if someone can dig them out to compare. 2010 was magic.
  20. Sorry I was being a bit cheeky with my post , Got to say I'm starting to get excited about the chance of posting some interesting early season posts on here next week if this upgrades very 'in my back yard' at the moment I know.
  21. Today's zoom...Getting there slowly one step at a time. patience needed by me to wait for widespread wintry weather ...may have to wait till winter for it! If you Zoom in, you will see white pixels in Scotland AND England now. Getting there slowly. Also, the Ice does appear to be inching closer to Iceland..... What a moment it would be if it could reach the north shore of Iceland this year!! A ice bridge to Iceland would be amazing and so cool to see but it would need loads more ice than we have I believe.
  22. pretty decent progress of the snow filling out this month so far winter draws on, would be nice for the UK to join in the fun before the end of the month.
  23. to save a few necks.. lovely picture thats full of early promise. Could you flip your pics round? I have to stand on my head to see them
