  1. Think the radar is struggling with the amount of snow being blown about by the wind hence the false returns. its actually snowing very lightly here but it’s goig sideways not down because the wind is so strong. The main chunk of snow potential isn’t forecasted to reach us until after mid morning I don’t think.
  2. Little monster is almost three! And the proud owner of his very own sledge.
  3. Absolutely chucking it down again here, and windy too, OH and the small cleared the path to the garage earlier and it's covered again. Don't think this is over for today somehow!
  4. just looking out it seems to have clouded right over again, and the radar seems to have some more organised showers blowing in. After last night's last minute warning when we weren't forecast that much of note, and then quite a big fall during the early hours, I must say I'm keeping a very open mind about the next few days, just a minor correction and we could end up with an awful lot of snow.
  5. Looks like we have bit of a streamer situation in the south of the region at the moment, the radar is showing showers just feeding in from the sea. We've had another hour or snow of continuous heavy snow.
  6. Good covering here in Shenfield, looks like we will get clipped again within the hour. A balmy -4.5 with a dew point of -8. Won’t be attempting work today!
  7. Just watching the radar animation and the showers in the N. Sea look to be intensifying and grouping together. Also helped by a more easterly nudge to the wind.

  9. Big fluffy flakes in Camden town! Hubs just called and it's been snowing quite hard at home on the a128 between brentwood and grays. I'll be leaving work early this afternoon methinks,
  10. My weather station is currently reading -3.4c In my book that’s cold but we will have to agree to disagree. ??
  11. Cannot actually believe some of the comments this morning. You know you aren’t guaranteed any kind of weather, well, ever, right? We are in day 2 of an unusually cold spell, and fine, if you think this morning is regular winter after you must have a better set of thermals on than me, but it’s cold. Very cold, and be coldest day will be tomorrow by the looks of current info. Yes it’s irritating that the trains aren’t running - I am right in the thick of this, squashed into one as I type and an hour late for work, but if people look beyond the end of their noses they would understand that temperatures as cold as this DO affect the overhead cables and rails - you don’t need snow for a train to break down. Give he moaning a rest eh? This isn’t how I remember the regionals at all
  12. Gosh this is a bleak thread! Warnings are in force and come into effect in the next hour. Let's just see what tonight brings before writing it off eh??
  13. Pretty cool in Warley as I walked to the station this morning, actually came down quite hard, so I’m going to make plans to leave work early, typically there will be nowt at the office when I get there and a blooming foot of it back home.
  14. Slightly bitter overtones in some of the posts tonight. Let’s not forget we went thought this on Tuesday and Wednesday and then lo and behold it all came good. Also, we’re on the cusp of a decent snow event, without the caution of marginality and it’s been a while since we had those. I’m kind of bummed out (again) that we have the same posters tearing the high spirits of others down and first in the queue to pour misery on others excitement, I’m tired of seeing it. There’s no special badge for being the first to call it a bust. We’re in pretty special territory courtesy of the the SSW, I don’t think we can accept outputs as gospel.... esp not beyond day 5 Finally, as much as I and most on here love the magic of snow, if you are realistically wanting a three or four week sub zero fest with powder snow, six foot icicles et al, you’re probably living on the wrong continent. Be nice. Stay warm.
  15. Pleeeeeeeeease... there's a whole thread on NW about the BBC There's another which is just about the cold spell If you switch tabs away from the mod thread to post in another (More appropriate thread) the cold isn't going to run off and go elsewhere..... but your post might. (Sorry)
  16. Oh haaaaai We've been very liberal with the topic drift this eve, there's obviously a LOT of excitement in here tonight, can I just ask that before the pub run rolls and everyone goes bananas that general winter commentary/IMBY etc goes in the appropriate thread........ Ta!
  17. What the bloody hell happened!? Secondary warming = slightly wonky output. I know a week ago seems like a lifetime away but I do recall major warming = very wonky flip flop output. Lots of people taking stuff on face value again. This is not a done deal and I am disappointed that we have people making quite frankly ludicrous comments among charts that I and most other people would have sawed their arm off for last year, and the year before and the year before and.. you get my point. Don’t feed the trolls. Just report the posts. <lies down in dark room>
  18. ^^^ I think the last few posts highlight my earlier point.... lots of learners in here at the moment. Writing off prognosis on one run is just bonkers. (IMHO)
  19. You’ve misunderstood- I’m not saying the cautious posts are sarcastic. If you read the last seven or so pages there are numerous comments around uppers being poor, prognosis bring poor, length of cold being poor and then a chart posted showing he complete opposite with a wink which, to me, in my humble book, is sarcasm. My point is that there are huge number of people reading that don’t usually drop in and don’t have the knowledge that more regular posters do, and will take every single comment at face value. You only need to go into the regional threads to see discussion on just how confusing other posters are finding reading this. Not everyone has the privilege or the time to learn how to read outputs.
  20. Just a Gentle reminder that if you’re posting (sarcastic) disappointment at this morning’s output, there are a vast number of people reading that <trust> what posters in here are writing. That’s right! If you were to take every comment on face value then it’s all quite bewildering. We have been really really spoiled with mega charts the last five days and the 00z always seems to be the cause of the most woe every morning without fail there’s been an air of despair and for the 9000th time this week, it’s one run. So whilst we have the willy waving, despair and ‘I told you so’ chat once again from the morning runs, please think about your post and it’s content. Thanks!
  21. Also.. Please remember that there are loads of unseasoned folks reading the thread so whilst your tongue in cheek comment might register with frequent visitors, it may well be completely baffling to most. It’s easy to think that the board is just the same 10-15 people reading and posting but there are 500+ on tonight. Don’t be a dick in front of 500 people, I guess is my message.
  22. Definitely a few posts in here tonight that I’d probably call attention seeking at best and trolling at worst. I know in this day and age Amazon prime can usually provide a unicorn at a days notice, and we are all a bit spoiled with the ‘I want it right now’ culture, it’s worth remembering that although there are some timing alterations, you can’t track the cold delivery and we are at the mercy of far bigger atmospheric things in play. If we were talking about t+240’s then of course I would be taking a totally different stance but we aren’t. Just... be cool!
