  1. Some decent lightning. Noteworthy rain but no hail here despite being in the core. Good start to summer!
  2. Storms didnt fire until, what, 4-5 yesterday? What's everyone worrying about. You don't tend to get diurnal thunderstorms until later afternoon at the earliest.
  3. Currently caulking (worst job if your an amateur like myself, vile stuff!) waiting for these thunderstorms.
  4. It's funny, you never really get used to the climate here no matter how long you've been exposed to it. For our latitude I believe statistically we are the dullest country in the world in terms of average sunshine hours. I have friends who have moved to around the Med and they tell me their happiness has vastly improved (it's not for everyone of course). I'm really struggling with the very short days in Autumn/Winter now and our (mostly) banal Summers. Won't be long until I consider making the jump to the mainland.
  5. For England. Anyone know what the latest date to reach 20C was? Must be getting close this year surely.
  6. How on Earth is April currently sitting at average according to the MetOffice!? If this is what 1961-90 typically felt like then thank goodness for global warming
  7. Just awful, miserable weather. The last time we got 3 consecutive days of wall-to-wall sunshine was back in december.
  8. It is now mid-april and temperatures are hovering around 6C with another band of rain pushing through. The UK must be the only place in the world where you wouldn't know if it was November or April.
  9. Just checking amateur weather stations on wundermap and the temperatures are 2C with DPs around 0C under that blob over Shropshire. Definitely snow in many places I'd imagine.
  10. I normally found Winter to be quite cosy but in recent years I've developed SAD for whatever reason. I don't know if this is the same for others who experience SAD but I recognise the littlest 'spring-like' things more so than the average person would because it brings me hope that brighter, warmer weather is nearing. For example: Fluffy fair-weather clouds. Roads quickly drying up after rain. The sun finally rising above the houses across the street. We have a north-facing garden so it beings me joy to see the sunline finally make it to the lawn. + many more!
  11. Regarding the radar precip types. It's based on model data and not what actually is coming out of the sky.
  12. Unlikely to be fully snow that line of showers as I think its the occlusion.
  13. Yup rain here at 180m asl. Hopefully wont see too much before the next dump.
  14. 50p flakes here which means the atmosphere is warming. That's fine. Most of the precip is moving awsy now. 1C max so should keep things from melting too quick.
  15. ICON slightly further south than its previous run. Not enough to get much of this region into 'play'
  16. Models don't get the track 100% correct, even a few hours ahead. We've all seen bands of precipitation go further north or south. I'd be saying that if it was just a Summer low as well. Its not a done deal in marginal situations like this. The low tomorrow may surprise us, or it may even be rain for Buxton!!
  17. Thats a good thing. Smaller flakes, although less impressive, means it's colder. Dry snow accumulates quicker.
  18. Well we are now down to 0C with a DP of -3.2C. Hasn't risen above 1C all day.
  19. Dew points are now steadily dropping here, and as a consequence, we are seeing snow settling on cars and paths. Power of the setting sun.
  20. Love days like this - just one notch from being perfect (snow actually settling). Snow all day and tucked up in my oodie watching it through the window.
