Was quite surprised by last night, I got up at 2/3am and saw the storms turn away from London. I actually thought I'd awake to the biggest MCS in a decade.

Well the 1st one has got me super excited, I am literally wide awake. Let's hope we get MCS 2 trundling through London as the first was very close to us, your just south of me by 4-5 miles so hopefully it'll come this way.

I take it that this big MCS(1) may prevent (2) or any further action tonight? Or limit it's potential, or do MCS not work like that? Interesting that MCS(2) will likely go over London.

Jealous if that's it, I can see this thing stretching from Essex to the far south west. It's huge. Going very dark to my south still.

This first batch is probably unexpected, should hit London & SE at Sunset? Looks like the MCS will form just after this lot? It's all moving north at 25KT's with the low pressure. Bay of Biscay low if I am correct according to the charts.

One thing that's struck me to previous plumes we've had over the years, there's very little crap in the sky above. The visibility is stunning today for a PLUME. Quite a bit of moisture can be seen in the atmosphere today but there's more chance of strong heating today and then more chance of re-radiating to aid storms tonight. Hardly any CIN over majority of England.

That's the year. Wasn't it October or August 1999? I remember 1997 being huge just after Princess Diana passed away. Paris was 110*F the weekend before.

London last night. I don't think I've seen something like that in years. Let's hope tonight is a mouthwatering MCS, we deserve it. Harry/Lauren may know the last MCS import we had; it's going back over a decade ago or more. Copyright https://twitter.com/justinstokes_ Copyright https://twitter.com/MPSinthesky

Quite a few active cells in London at the moment. One near Heathrow and one SW of my location. Just awoken to booming distance thunder.

I remember this, wasn't October also similar or was that a different year? There was one October that was so stormy full of T&L -

I think it's now gone to a Surface based Cb, visbility has just dropped to my west/southwest. Nothing heard yet but will keep an eye out. There's a Thunderstorm near Gatwick - EGKK 091820Z 22005KT 9999 -SHRA VCTS FEW040CB 16/15 Q1015 RESHRA
